i am shopping for

Good Android Tablet in 10+ inch

what are you guys using ?

is 2 GB RAM enough ?

usage will be youtube , chrome

so screen should be good and enough ram.

looks like gfy is filled with Rich ipad , iphone, iMac users.

If you are only gonna wanna do basic stuff like watch youtube and browse GFY etc, then have you looked at the Amazon Fire HD 10 ?

Cheap as chips, (Less than £150 / $200) but if you wanted something more meaty, but did not want to get tied into the apple ios ecosystem, I'd look at the range of Galaxy Tabs. Not as cheap as a fire, but comparable to ipads etc in terms of spec :)

its for my father, he has basic phone, so i am looking for something very easy to use. as he doesnt understand tech much.

only YouTube app will be used.,

i think , if google launches some cheap ass tablet and only allow google apps in it., it will attract more customers, e.g. old people., easy to use.

Oh, go for the fire 100% in that case. Perfect just for youtube. If price is an issue there's also the 8 inch fire. Again, dead simple. :thumbsup

Thats kinda like the fire is now. Sure, its android, but it's an amazon flavour of android. So while you can use any type of android app, it defaults to the amazon app store, which has versions of stuff specifically designed to be completely compatible with the fire tablet itself.

I actually set up a couple of amazon kids fire tablets at xmas, and decided to try and do it via alexa, just for fun. I literally just said 'Alexa, download the youtube app' and a few mins later it was ready to use. :)

So your dad could just say 'Alexa, open youtube' or whatever he wants open and its that simple for him :)

Yeah. The other side is that if you did have a problem (unlikely) you've got amazon to deal with, which when its a product of their own,they really stand behind it...

Alexa is certainly cool though, cause im my case with youtube, I didn't have to find the equivalent of the play store app, launch it, search for the youtube app, click it to download etc....

I just said 'Do This" and it just did it. Be great for your dad. What could be easier than to tell him to say 'Open Youtube' and its open? Dead simple :)

I'm a big fan of Chuwi tablets, some have 2 normal usb ports so super fucking easy to connect anything, or plug in a normal keyboard / mouse when in desktop mode. Dual bot windows or android or just trash the android and go windows only

cost a bit more but a great little machine, I keep it on my desk like a second pc with a wireless mouse plugged in, use it as a main pc when I'm on holidays.

I have a 10" Amazon Fire HD and couldn't stand the delays when typing something in and loading up web pages, it's also heavier than advertised when you have the Fire protector case on it and started making my wrist soar so I stopped using it.

yes, i know amazon is good with handling customer issues.,
there is ok google for android too, idk whats different in alexa or ok google.,

anyways fire hd 10, is one of the shortlisted for now.

its kinda expensive as compared to other chinese brands and usage is only for google chrome , youtube.

Unless all you're doing is browsing the web, you want an eco system of content and apps.

The Play Store is full of malware ridden crap, while it's still possible to find bad apps on the Apple App Store they are dealt with much quicker.

this is only for browsing and youtube. so android is fine.

and about the second part, i am not sure, father will install any other apps on it., unless website pops the message to do it.

can i lock tablet, so no new apps will be installed , i have to look into it.

No Idea I'm in Aus, here online purchases under $1000 incur no tax much to the dislike of local retailors. Chuwi is a medium sized Chinese tablet maker though so available in many online stores, Googles ya friend there.

One thing to consider though with Android, all the Chinese tablets have issues with some apps, and have built in fucked apps, pot luck if they effect what you want to run. And for that reason also look at a second hand Galaxy or major brand tablets because every app will work, and updates will continue for years.

for me I've never had issues with Chuwi, especially the ones with 2 usb slots that's the seller for me, but I note the new ones don't have that. fook it
