Hillary Clinton shares numbers of senators, encourages people to call them to end shutdown

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday shared the phone numbers of senators on Twitter and urged followers to call them to end the government shutdown.

"The government shutdown is by far the longest in U.S. history," she wrote. "It's put hundreds of thousands of people under financial stress and endangered our security. Join a National Call In Day to end it."

Clinton also included a link to a page on Indivisible's website with a brief summary of the shutdown, call scripts for senators and representatives and a link to find lawmakers' phone numbers.

The page on Indivisible, a liberal nonprofit, asks callers to tell their lawmakers to pass "a clean continuing resolution [CR] that would fund the government until Feb. 8," without increased funding for border security.

The page also tells people that they can help by visiting lawmakers' offices, making calls and supporting federal workers affected by the shutdown.

What no one seems to realize is that Trump and the rest of the Republicans wants the govt to be shutdown and they really have no interest in opening it back up. Trumps whole purpose is to dismantle America as we know it and the rest of the GOP hates the Federal govt. It is what stands in the way of them screwing workers out of wages, polluting the air and water more, forcing companies to give sick people health coverage, etc. They want a Koch vision of America where everything from the fire dept to roads to Social Security is privatized and zero regulations for anything while paying little to no taxes.

I was having a conversation about this very thing yesterday. His purpose for being there is to create chaos and sew discord. As far as he knows this feels right for him. Fixing things is not in his interest.

Yeah... .Pelosi and Schumer refuse to negotiate anything at all or to even sit down if it includes anything at all to do with funding the wall... whcih they supported UNTIL Trump was President... therefore, Trump is the problem.

They, like always are banking on the fact that it will backfire on him and erode his support and it's not going to happen. Trump was elected to do this very thing. It's what voters want on both sides.

Incidentally, those two fucking idiots start calling a border wall "immoral" yet for some reason they not only supported it in the past... but inexplicably aren't calling for the dismantling of the existing "immoral" sections of border walls. Strange how that works. Strange how flexible their moral code is on this issue.

But,... you know,... Orange Man Bad! We all (sane, rational people) get it and understand your position.

Could you just imagine? What if this continues for another month... The FBI, NASA, NSA, CIA, Coast Guard, airports, ports.... Borders.... All shut down.

This is what Trump and the GOP want.

It's part of the plan to take over our Democracy with Trump calling a state of emergency after months of government workers unemployed and vital agencies shut down, for a manufactured problem he & McConnell created.

I always thought he was good at making deals because he paid this guy to write a book about making deals...

They're doing the right thing in not negotiating with Trump. He's acting like a terrorist or bank robber who's been cornered by the police. That is just fucked up and you should NEVER make deals or compromises with people who do that, since it sets up a dangerous precedent for future events.
