Question for google guru about changing ltd 6 years ago

Hi,

We have change the ltd about 8 years ago from .es to .com and have some very strange behavior in google.

The website: https://bit.ly/2Tnvxwj

First point :

We changed the ltd about 8 years ago from .es to .com. Did 301 redirect to the new website but still the old site is in the index with thousands of links. In the search console, it shows in Links 95K of links from old ltd to the new one.

the .com version Screenshot by Lightshot

We had about 450K unique visitors per day but the last years it is getting lower and lower. Even on our brand name, we are not in the first position anymore. When I check with site: in google it shows the title and description of the .com website. When visit all the links in the .es search it is redirected to the .com version so all looks ok.

- I wonder why the old .es results are still available in the search.
- Why in webmaster tools it is shown as “links” ( from .es version to the .com version) if I login in webmaster tools
- Does it hurt our SEO as it could be duplicated content (google shows 2 versions .es and .com )
- Why it is still indexing a .es website as it is completely removed. (20 links indexed this week on .es version)
- How is it that the title and description is shown in the SERP from the .com website in the .es index
- In the log, I see Google is still spidering thinks like ????.es/nokia ????.es/iphone as the website was responsive based on device, but that was made 6 years ago. in the logs of yotubesexo.com

So again for 6 years, the .es is still there (it is slowly going down now) but still google see it as links in webmaster tools. yotubesexo.es is completely removed as website.

As bonus yesterday Mr. google showed this https://prnt.sc/mcf6q6 publish date 2011 ??

Two months ago we changed the server and made a new setup of the website.

Does anyone know what we are doing wrong here or did wrong in the past?

cheers

Don't look logic in google. i check your redirection looks ok.
canonical also looks ok is to .com domain. so no duplicate content should be.
I think problem can be you have still linked strong .es domain. try change links where you can from .es to .com domain.

I see problem with your robot.txt
https://yotubesexo.com/robots.txt - to many redirections.

you can also try change address and setup this 301 redirection from google side.
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/change-address

maybe this will help.

Hi, thanks for the reply and help.

Change links from old to new is almost impossible. We did not a lot of link stuff in the past In google tools there are a lot of "back" links but most are dirty sites and all informed to mr. google. But again in there is even the .es site as links (32.000) and that is strange.

Robots.txt has too many redirections?

Changing from google site is not possible as the .es don't exist for a long time. I even think we did that as well

Really strange stuff

Cheers

I have links which where removed 12 years ago and still Google tries to index them.
You can't do anything to avoid this.
The thing you can try is to generate a 410 status code (gone forever).
This may work but it seemed that Google has it's own rules.

Hoi Kafka,

Yup could be old links and they normally redirect from the .es to the .com but I don't understand why Mr. google show me the .es as a link partner in their webmaster tools so in theory it is duplicated content.

And status code 410 no idea how to do that as the .es is completely gone (only the domain is there and redirect all for the moment)

Well, not a lot of people know their rules but it is just fucking strange. Especially that he is still indexing the .es website and show the results also as .es

But thanks for the info

Maybe there are sites who are linking to the old .es domain.

check http:// www. yotubesexo.es

or only www. yotubesexo . es

possibly you have a lot of old links to that and it redirects to your WP admin.

Hi Thommy,

Thanks for the reply.

Tried to simulate what you mean but I go to the .com version in both cases and not to the wp-login page. I checked the logs, I see 3 (from the 45K) and the site is changed the wp cms 1.5 months ago. But still does not make sense that the .es is there for years and Mr. Google tells me that this is a "link" partner.

Maybe an idea to change it back from .com to .es ?

Cheers

i end up every 2nd or 3rd time on you wp login (with chrome)

if a link is set on a site what is not https and links to http://www. the browser will always try the not ssl version.

but in fact that does not explain your problem.

but the site search you made will possibly always show you this result as in fact both domains are existing.
(the content from the domain you searched have just moved)
if you look into the results (cached version) you might see that both searches are showing to the com.

that means google understood very well that es is now com.

and what you actually did was asking google for the pages from your es-domain and google showed you the results from the com because it is 301 permanently moved.
so on a regular search there is nothing from the es in google.

that you have löst traffic on that domain may have to do with a lot of changes in the algorythm.

also your mobile version is not conform with coalition for better ads rules as there is more than 1/3 used from an ad.
in the first visable part of a mobile page you should only use 300x100 ads and put the 300x250 later in the content.

to understand google is quite easy because Google actually reacts on user signals like bounce rate and returning visitors. sure you can do a lot wrong onpage but I think this is not really your problem here. you are not the only one that have lost in the past 2 years.
one of the major issues is the mobile first index.
if your site have issues in mobile it will lose visibility in google.

I did a quick check for you and everything seems normal on my end.
