It's already a holiday. They close schools / banks / etc.

..what Democrats are calling the "For the People Act," would also require presidential candidates to release their tax returns, and prohibits voter purging.

LOL You guys are so desperate, you want to keep fraudulent voters registered :1orglaugh

No its not :

Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, and the territory of Puerto Rico have declared Election Day a civic holiday. Some other states require that workers be permitted to take time off from employment without loss of pay. California Elections Code Section 14000 and New York State Election Law[10] provide that employees without sufficient time to vote must be allowed two hours off with pay, at the beginning or end of a shift. Democracy Day, a planned federal holiday to coincide with Election Day, was unsuccessfully proposed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate in 2005. It was later reintroduced in the Senate in 2014 and has not been enacted.

Some employers allow their employees to come in late or leave early on Election Day to allow them an opportunity to get to their precinct and vote. The United Auto Workers union has negotiated making Election Day a holiday for workers of U.S. domestic auto manufacturers.[citation needed] In July 2016, venture capitalist Hunter Walk began encouraging tech companies to give their employees time off to vote on Election Day.[11] Walk's campaign evolved into a website, TakeOffElectionDay.com, which now highlights the 140+ tech companies (including Spotify, Wikimedia Foundation, Autodesk, and Square, Inc.)[12] that are giving their employees time to vote on Election Day.

Why the fuck would we add the expense of another federal holiday? Fucking Princess should stick with Canadian bullshit and not worry how we conduct elections.

Again proving you don't live in America and most likely have never set foot here.

King Mark 01-31-2019 04:25 PM

It should be a holiday. Would raise awareness.

Bladewire 01-31-2019 04:26 PM

Historically, the more people who turn up to vote, the worse the changes of a republican winning. This is why Republicans engage in extreme gerrymandering, voter suppression & not having the day off to vote.

Everyday is a holiday for most Dems anyways since most of them don't work and live off the government teet.

pimpmaster9000 01-31-2019 04:30 PM

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh That has to be the funniest thing I have read hear all year. Like there aren't enough commercials on TV and radio that anyone would notice an election is coming up.

kane 01-31-2019 05:31 PM

All voting should be done by mail. No need for any holiday or even any time off. In my state you get your ballot a few weeks before election day and you can either mail it back or drop it in one of many ballot collection boxes. Easy. Of course, Republicans don't like that either because it encourages turnout.

They should have to vote in person with license or ID in hand.

Most people your age don't watch TV or listen to the radio.

In Oregon you have to prove citizenship in order to register. To register you have to have a valid Oregon ID which requires you to show you birth certificate to get it. Voter fraud here is almost non-existent. Since 2016 we have had a total of about 50 ballots that were investigated for possible fraud. Also, that Texas case you are talking about is now being investigated further and the Texas officials are starting to walk back those claims.

Change is sometimes good. Voting by mail greatly reduces the chances of fraud and encourages turnout.

Absentee voting, by mail, is what I have done for over a decade. Apparently your state has it for everyone.

Would you prefer if I said all month? Same fucking difference you idiot.

Are you trying to tell me a majority of the people you think need to have their awareness driven aren't spending a significant amount of time in front of a TV or listening to a radio? Are they not getting enough junk mail that they are too fucking clueless to figure out there is an election coming up?

Your people/demographic must be total morons.

Oh, right. Never mind, I forgot who I was talking to.

Or sitting in front of the radio listening to old-timey stories! Am I right?

I'm a little bit saddened this wasn't a issue that blew up but in the Trump era I guess something like this is no big deal..

What he said should have him thrown out of office.

King Mark 02-01-2019 09:30 AM

It would be way more beneficial to drop Christmas as a holiday and replace it with a voting holiday.

Not only will it cut down on reckless spending, lying to kids and supporting subliminal racism (the real saint Nick is melanated, so is jesus), but it will also get THE PEOPLE more politically involved.

You've previously made quite a few statements showing you have no idea how things work in the US, including people must use ID's with a credit card, cops don't arrest people for pot, etc. And now you claim it's already a national holiday for voting.Even if you lived on one of the 5 states that have that, anyone who lives in the US knows its not a national holiday. Your cover has been blown Ruskie troll.

Just wondering if you ever tell the truth? Should we start calling you AceLiar?

Is the Post Office Open on Election Day 2018?

Election Day is not a postal holiday. Post offices should be open with normal business hours on Tuesday.

Are Banks Open on Election Day?

Banks are often closed on major holidays like Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, but as mentioned Election Day is not regarded as a holiday. So banks are open on Tuesday, and regular store hours should be in effect.

Are Government Offices Open or Closed on Election Days?

Election Day is not a federal holiday, which means federal offices are open like usual. However, some states — including New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois, Montana, Rhode Island, and Hawaii — consider Election Day state holidays, so state and local government offices are closed on Tuesday and non-essential state workers have the day off.

King Mark 02-01-2019 06:18 PM

Aceliar has a nice ring to it

Lol, calm down, I said I didn't know it wasn't a holiday in every state. My mistake. I'm pretty sure i agree with your position, there's no need for it to be a federal holiday.
