Please help me understand why you're religious?
It's always amazed me why anyone needs religion. Is it to be a better person, they believe in god or like the sense of community it gives them, Dead Eye is a Muslim, somemust be Christians, maybe even Mormons, Hindus, Buddhists, even Scientologists.
Why do you need religion? |
I understand why backward people believe in god, creation and all the tales told in bibles. But for modern, logical free thinking people it's obviously stories made up by Bronze Age and earlier leaders to control the masses.

btw. it does not have to be a religion it can be anything that gives one an easy answer to questions that are complex and not easy to answer. call it religion or ideology - both have to do with weakness. |
I believe that when some people hit a certain age they look for some kind of extra meaning in life. When they get closer to dying they want to believe there is something "next" for them after they die.
I do not get religion. The bible says certain things are bad and religion considers them sinful. Yet, the bible says other things are bad but they are perfectly acceptable. The bible says we should not touch the skin of a pig on Sundays, yet nearly everyone in the country is going to watch the Superbowl this Sunday. The bible says it's bad to wear clothes of two different clothes, yet... We do this every day. Why are some "rules" very bad but others are okay to violate daily? |

Any religion is created to manage people. And who has the power, then has and money. I have never seen a high priest of any religion be poor or have the same wealth as his parishioners.
And people themselves want to believe that someone can solve their problems for them. |

Belief ≠ Understanding . . .

religion is created by a smart businessman that wanted a % of the money of the people and make them fear things so they could start an international pedophile club with its own laws.
when the pope went to Holland years ago, he didn't felt welcome and never returned. This videoclip they made before he came to ridicule him and is a hit till today. He was against abortion, condoms, etcetra. You can not do that nowadays with a religion, they cut your head off. Pope John Paul II visited the Netherlands only once in May 1985. The visit to the Netherlands was memorable since it was disastrous. Never before were the streets so empty during a papal visit and were there so many protesters. There were about 3000 spectators in total but many more protesters and rioters. The visit in the Netherlands was characterized by major security measures and the chilly reception that the pope received by the Dutch population. Prior to the visit Elsevier Magazine had conducted a survey among the Dutch population. It showed that the visit of the Pope was appreciated by only 3% of Dutch Roman Catholics. There was public ridicule in the media and openly criticism of the Catholic dogma’s about the position of women, homosexuality, celibacy, unmarried cohabitation, feminism, divorce and marriage of priests. There were public death threats with promised rewards. https://www.quora.com/How-many-Dutch...rlands-in-1985 |

I understand why religion answers questions that previously were complex or even impossible to answer. Today we have most of the answers and a few theories. One knows a jigsaw represents a picture and one can see what the picture is, even if it's missing a few pieces. Religion insists the jigsaw is a lie. |

people dont like uncertainty and creating a god responsible for what they dont understand is a convenient answer to everything.

there are many - even big - religions that do not even need a god or deny science. buddhism is a good example, some hindu and even some streams of islam are very modern. the strongest and most dogmatic religions you will find where the most uneducated people are. look to latin america - all full of catolics but even they are more modern than protestants. as i said - brainwashing can be done in many many ways. look what happens now in hungary or just look at your idol trump. he is using the same dumb people to tell them lies and they believe it. there is NO difference for me. |
Oh tommy, so predictable. In tommy’s world, Catholics and Protestants are crazy and islam is moderate.

Multiculturalism doesn't work, if you need evidence of that look at Africa, Asia, South America. In fact the last place to look is in the West where it works the least worse. That doesn't mean one race is superior to another, because racists like you think that. It doesn't mean we can't live, marry, work, learn, etc together. We can but the resistance to that is upper most for those in religion designed to segregate. Some religions to the point of killing family members for marrying outside their religion. Buddhists are currently killing Muslims in Myanmar, so not such a great religion. Or what ever you call it. Now give us examples of how Islam is a modern religion. Or can't you. |
My girlfriend enjoys playing her Sims game. But those Sims characters can't prove she exists. If they could, it would be a very boring game. That's not what makes the game fun.
In their world, how could they even begin to prove she exists, anyway? They'd need the ability to think outside their programming, and they're not programmed to do that. She'd also need to be programmed directly into their realm somehow, but she's not. Sims live their lives in the game, and eventually die in the game. Now wouldn't it be cool if they could suddenly exist in the real world as real people, after they die in the game? You've known them and nurtured them since they were babies, and now you get to hang out with them and be friends with them in real life. At least the nice ones. You wouldn't want the mean ones in your life. |

Quran
You read this book for just one time and you will get all of your question's answer. and a little more. |
It all boils down to faith.
You either going to have faith in God (or what have you), or faith that science will one day somehow prove that all of this spontaneously came from absolutely nothing... Or simply not give a fuck. Choice is yours (in America at least). |
I choose to believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn.
"Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorn is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that she is pink; we logically know that she is invisible because we can't see her" |
don't bother yourself with religion.....religious people tend to be hypocrites , but there must be secret behind universe or god ? :winkwink:
but life is not fair . |

The existence of so many versions religions proves they're all myths. |
I grew up in a Southern Baptist household. And that's why I'm not religious.
You can't force that much bullshit on people and expect everyone to fall for it. |
If a superior being came from space and preached of love & inclusion, and had powers to part the sea & heal the sick, millions would flock to her & worship her. People would write books about her and tell stories about her for millenia.

I'm not talking about life tho. Talking about everything in existence. Either had to come from nothing turning into something (which would qualify as a miracle at this point) or god |
Religions are cancer of the modern world. Some people need them because they are intellectually inferior and can't process things and get simple answers to what they feel and see.
Basically, it is weakness and fear of death that has to be compensated somehow, even with stupid tales. It doesn't matter, we all know that people do strange things when they are afraid. On top of that, most of the people are living in societies where the course of their lives actually don't depend on what they are doing but it depends on a fucked up system. Once you are learned or you figure out that life is passing and you didn't get what you always wanted, then believing in unnatural things kicks in. Whenever I've talked to religious people and asked them totally logical questions, I've never got an answer with meaning. They are just repeating a mantra or saying that what I am saying is blasphemy. One of the reasons is hope. When you lose someone important, it is hard to accept that his life was useless and you won't be ever able to see him again. Religious people are dangerous mostly because of their stupidity. Religious differences brought so much suffering through history that no one smart would back up that direction any further. In the end, just take a look what Muslims are doing and what are they capable of doing in the name of the religion .:1orglaugh This is why education must be free and available to everyone on this tiny planet we call home. |
I believe you guys have the right to feel however you want to feel. I respect it. But can one of you geniuses explain, scientifically, how things exist? From nothing?

You gonna answer the question tho?
Or you just going to call religion cancer because it doesn't fit your narrative? |
Things have to be created, that's science. Believing that a big bang spontaneously created stuff from nothing is as absurd as some religions lol.

A guy I use to work with many years ago was attending Vanderbilt Divinity School. I asked him, why? Answer "The money"
|
Religions have shitty people in them. That's established.
However, can any of you geniuses explain how things exist? |
I challenge any of you to take a bunch of nothing... And create something. If you can, I'll drop islam and worship you. Cause that would make you god.
And I mean this in no disrespect. I respect everyone of you guy's opinions. I don't give a shit about being politically correct, and give less a fuck about what your believe or not. |

I knew very few math guys who were religious. They all shared the same ability to be very hard to work with and would often rally against a group decision based on feeling.
Never understood it to be honest. I much prefer the Dragonlance series of books to the bible, quran, harry potter or lord of the rings. I mean have you guys even read Ringworld? |

If you are ready to believe in that "statement" of yours. it is your choice. Frankly, I don't even bother to talk with religious people, I consider them extremely stupid. |

With their imagination, a human, created everything surrounding you. The walls, the windows, the clothes you wear, television, computer, phone, electricity, satellites, spacecraft, books, bible's, quran. God has no human constructs, all religions are a human construct. For many, religion is the very first step to finding God , not the only step. People move beyond the human construct of religion to embrace and understand the life force around us. If you cling to a book & words & schedule you're not clinging to God, you are clinging to humanity. |
We're all living in a simulation.

I guess nobody is going to answer the question. Humans don't create anything. We manipulate what already exists. Scientific fact.
Who is the creator? What is the creator? None of you will answer, because it's scientifically impossible. |
