Watch this shit - you'll fucking die.

Talk about the ultimate setup.

I'm a big fan of Deadmau5.

My studio is much smaller though.

Sly 02-07-2019 10:05 AM

You can see a lot of his studio in his Master Class from masterclass.com as well.

He's got lots of fun toys!

Yeah I've done that.

Do any other GFY members have real studios and synth collections?

King Mark 02-07-2019 11:10 AM

I have a studio. But mine is below poverty level compared to his. I have no real synths either, just vst's.

My studio consists of:

-a laptop

-audio interface

-2 studio monitors

-headphones

-61 key midi keyboard

-fl studio

-splice

That's it lol

King Mark 02-07-2019 11:11 AM

I have many many MANY vst synths, but serum is my go-to for almost every project. Nexus is good too, I use it a lot, but lot less than serum.

Rochard 02-07-2019 11:18 AM

Seems like a lot of over kill to me.

AdultKing 02-07-2019 11:20 AM

Mine's always changing.

I move gear in and out as I use it then it goes back to my storage area.

That's a cool setup AdultKing...

Would you mind giving me a breakdown of what all of it does? For example, what is a Traktor?

I play guitar, and I use my Macbook running Logic Pro 9 to get the pedal effects I want, and for basic mixing only. I want to expand and do more but I honestly don't know what to buy next or where to start. Any primer advice would be appreciated.

King Mark 02-07-2019 12:17 PM

Ak, that's a hell of a setup. Nice!

Got some music you can link to?

What daw do you use?

Traktor is a DJ interface and software. I use it for remixes.

Breakdown of photos not in order:

Synths:

Moog Sub 37 Paraphonic Mono Synth
Nord A1 Analog polyphonic Modelling Synth
Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49 Mk II Midi Controller
Dave Smith Prophet REV 2 16 voice polyphonic analog synth
Moog Mother 32 Semi Modular Analog Synth
Behringer DeepMind 12 - 12 voice analog synth
Novation Peak 8 voice polyphonic desktop analog synth
Alto 12 Channel Mixer with Bus to a Scarlet Focusrite 18i8 audio interface.
Native Instruments Maschine Mk 3 groovebox
Novation Circuit 4 voice polyphonic groovebox
Pitsburgh Modular Black Box SV1 modular synthesizer
Behringer Model D Monophonic Moog MiniMoog clone
Waldorf Rocket analog synth

Stuff not in the photos

Novation Bass Station II Synth
Stanton USB Turntable
ARP Odyssey Rev 3 Mono Synth
Doepfer A100 modular analog system
Pitsburgh Modular 10.1 modular synth
Juno 106 Polyphonic Analog Synth

Then there's a whole bunch of synths pedals effects and stuff elsewhere. Probably forgotten some of the other cool stuff... I have a LOT of gear.

Buy pedals, you can never have enough pedals. There's a pedal I got recently called a Tube Pilot, super cheap $80 but the smoothest tube distortion pedal I've ever used.

I use Ableton Live & Logic

I won't connect my porn life to music life but I am on GearSlutz.

I have stuff on all the stores under different labels.

King Mark 02-07-2019 12:45 PM

I feel you , I feel the same way. You publish your own shit? I use tunecore for publishing and distribution.

Some of it I do myself through Ditto Music, most stuff goes on labels though.

How does this sound compared to the old Propet 5's or the T8?

Nice Analog axe. I was a Moog person. I still have both Mini's. Sadly, they both need work.

Awesome setup you have. No Korg Kronis?. The sounds are amazing. I'm thinking about buying one... Or two.

Sorry, to clarify: I have a programmable pedal that is used to change the fx in Logic Pro X... I'd buy some real pedals but there are so many to choose from and each one is between $70 and $200. And since LPX contains so many already, I find it hard to justify. If I was playing on stage then yes of course, but for just jamming with friends in my basement I think I'm good with a vpedal for now.

Here's what I would like : An easy way to add accompaniment (drums, bass) and voice pitch correction like autotune. I think LPX can do it too but I hate mousing and clicking around so much. Is there a decent hardware alternative? Or, is there a hardware interface that I can use?

Brighter sounding than the old Prophet 5, the REV 2 is a much better version of a P8.

I like Moog, obviously as I have Moog synths, but Sequential/Dave Smith synths are also very nice.

The Kronos is a workstation, doesn't really fit into my workflow, anything you can do on the Kronos I can do with the NI S49 MKII and plugins.

Korg have lost a lot of cred over a debacle with their poly analogue synth the Korg Prologue that has really bad tuning issues. There's nothing in Korg's current line up I want.

Pedals are like modular synths, they are a disease and you can't stop buying them. The difference between Logic and Real Pedals is that real analog pedals are real analog pedals and software doesn't do it as well as real analog.

You want a Groovebox, I recommend a Maschine Mikro.
