How many here use an Ad Blocker?
 

I got sick to death with ads loading and the time, disruption and annoyance they caused. So I installed an ad blocker.

Recently sites have gone over the top with adverts even Youtube is interrupting videos with adverts. :mad:

As for Tubes, they can :321GFY

I don't have any problem with pop up ads but some sites like youtube ads are heavy, make my pc slow so i have to enable ad blocker in youtube.
but for most sites it's disabled.

Adblocker and noscript over here. Wish I didn't have to use them, but I do since everybody wants to autoplay videos, have 10 overlay ads, banners every fucking where, pops over and under, etc.

since coalition for better ads and chrome blocking the ads if they don´t go along with those rules it is not that bad anymore.

sure some sites still using every shit what makes them a cent but as soon as chrome blocks the ads they will adapt or die.

The amount of scripts on a web page is up 800% from that just 8 years ago.
Yes, spying, tracking is fairly legal here in the US.

If you keep many open browsers with lots of tabs, it does not take long to slow your machine worse than a CAD program with a large 3D file.
If many have Flash or PDF's, it's a big whammy.

The scripts are the enemy. Even most of those facebook icons on pages are trackers. Tracking you when you are not signed in or on their pages.
So much of this stuff is going on, it has been beyond belief.
I admire the EU for it's initial stand against this and for user privacy, but probably does not go far enough.

But, if you are good at recognizing some of these scripts, you might try NOSCRIPT for the firefox browser.
You can enable the scripts one by one or by temp for the tab or temp for the site.
Just seeing and understanding what some of them do is a learning experience if you have never studied them.
Many websites have made much of their site un-displayable without some of them. All in all after some time of getting use to it, it is worth the time to run this. Trick is to know which ones you need to allow the pages to work/run and leaving everything else blocked.

Get rid of FLASH on your computer. Much of the autoplaying video's are in flash. Some will revert to other formats but much will just disappear.

The adblockers have been made a bit moot from what they once were. But still effective.

I am still suspicious that there is some coordination of some CO's and Google and Mozilla to make some of these tracking attempt blocks ineffective by not displaying the pages at all.
But sometimes that is just one more 'SCRIPT' in the webpage.

To bad for Android which is a fine tuned tracking machine for at least google and those that know how to hack the tracking features.

If any of you are running JetPack in your WP, know they are harvesting your visitors by tracking.

Yeah, I remember back before I retarded, I used to use internet explorer, and people on here would tell me I was mad - Then go silent when I explained that I wanted to experience my sites and the rest of the web in the same way as 80% of other people and my customers did :)

I actualy switched to hosts file adblocking, as many sites detect adblock and block access due it. Hosts file block is much more effective.

I actually watch the full-length ads on youtube instead of skipping so the creators I follow will get more paid :thumbsup

I just use Windows 10 built in Edge browser and have IE set to disable scripting.

If a sites popping shit in Edge that I want to view, I just use explorer, ads are still there but popup circle jerks are killed.

Its silly to block them.. you just direct to another page, using ad blockers means your surfing those other pages.

I have made it mandatory that nobody uses 2 of my many machines to prevent add skewing.
I seem to have the need to keep telling google not to serve my those tailor based adds.
I need to see the search results as normal but now a days I don't think there is a normal.
Everyone's results are skewed.

A few Tube owners made money, not as much as they would have running sites, the industry lost billions.

Paid TV channels are now producing the best programs and now some great films. Proving people will pay for what they can't get for free, how many here will pay to watch a single boxing fight or football match live?

The problem porn faces is no one produces a similar level of product and when they do it's still given away free by pirates.

The answer to your question is. If he were selling site memberships he would be doing far better, assuming he could create the same level of paysites he does as Tubes. But creating a paysite takes a different and more specialised set of skills than creating a Tube. There's pre-made models for doing that, then just fill it with free scenes.

as far as I know lots of people find ads in Youtube videos very annoying so I hope BetterAds coalition is aware of it and they will be blocked in Chrome, and other browsers will follow.

Around 75% of us here use an ad blocker, does that reflect the general population? If it does advertisers need to rethink their campaigns.
