Notorious Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman has been found guilty on all charges by a jury in Brooklyn federal court.

The jury found Guzman responsible for violence including murders as well as the "smuggling of massive amounts of narcotics" into the U.S. over decades, prosecutors told reporters after Tuesday's verdict.

A Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) official added that Guzman was "responsible for unthinkable amounts of death and destruction, both in the United States and in his own country of Mexico."

Jurors were asked to weigh 10 counts against Guzman, each with different components.

Maybe he will escape again?

While I think he is a horrible, evil, and vile person, and is responsible for countless American deaths... Isn't this kind of a grey area? I mean, he committed his crimes in another country, not the United States... Think about the implications there...

Which prison gets him? Where is the most secure prison in the USA? People like him can manage to do seemingly impossible things.

It’s a great win for the DEA but drugs will always get here. You can freeze all entry into the USA and stop planes and boats but you simply can’t stop drug trafficking.

Until the laws are stricter and life in prison isn’t a country club with tv, phones, conjugal visitors, snacks, weight rooms, comfy bedding and things smuggled in, drugs will flourish.

They give lifers job training for a chance at an outside job. Lifers. Computer access that working people can’t afford.

Those penalties won't stop the drug trafficking. Life expectancy for drug traffickers is shorter than normal people.

The only thing that will stop it is the legalisation of drugs. Big Pharma is the lesser of two evils.
