Manafort has been in debt to Russian oligarch Derapaska. He has been doing business with this Ukranian for years. But he owed him millions of dollars and Russians don't like that. Manafort took the job as campaign manager 'for free' because all he wanted from the campaign (both him and Rick Gates) was to get inside information about the campaign to hand over to Deripaska who then turned it over to Putin's intelligence thugs to do dirty work with and help defeat Hillary Clinton. Putin despised Hillary and would do anything to help Trump because he knew damned well that if Hillary was president that he would lose a lot of his power in Europe and NATO would be even stronger against him and his expansion into Crimea.

Paul Manafort even sent Kliminck an email, which Mueller has, asking him to check back with Derapaska to let him know if the information he would steal from the campaign would help 'make him whole' meaning repay back the millions he owed to Derapaska.

So yet more proof of collusion.
