How strong is the case against him?

Seems very strong. I didn't dig too deep because this type of shit annoys tf out of me.

I read some of the claims from the brothers and they're easily proven. The cops also let the brothers go so they probably provided corroborating evidence that they practiced the attack in advance with Smollett. Smollett didn't know the camera in front of his apartment was pointing the wrong way not to record the "attack". The reason they say he staged the attack was because the fake letter he sent his studio threatening to attack him didn't get a lot of public traction.

A lot of wasted resources and erosion of public trust if he's found guilt they should make an example out of him and throw the book at him & throw him in jail.

If he filed a false police report then by all means he should be charged for it. Honestly, I have no idea who the guy is as I don't watch whatever TV show he's on.. So I have no dog in any fight but if he broke the law he should be charged as should everyone else who breaks laws.

I had never heard of him or the TV show he's on either, before the attack, which is why I assume now he staged the attack to get notoriety.

I don't watch it, but Empire is popular af. Dudes just a drama queen.

A week prior to the "attack" he received a threat letter in the mail with crude drawings of a black man being hanged, a gun, etc. There was also a white powder in it. This was sent to the studio that they shoot Empire at. It obviously turned into a big ordeal because of the white powder, hazmat was called in, the whole 9 yards. It's also still under investigation by the FBI.

Now sources are saying that he felt the response to that letter was not strong enough, so he wanted to create a new scenario that would warrant a "proper" response. Don't think it turned out like he expected!

Vanity and stupidity definitely got in the way.

That would make sense to me as well, but the whole "sources" thing adds another step that needs to be hashed out.

How crazy would it be if he did indeed fake the letter, then complained that the hazmat response was not strong enough, then stepped it up the next notch with the fake attack?
