Trump wants 5G 'and even 6G' in US as soon as possible

Interesting...

I wonder if anyone has told him the reason we are behind the curve is because there is little competition because of all the mergers the last 20 years.
There are twice the number of carriers in contry's less than the size of Texas.
We seen it with all forms of media.
Newspapers, radio, tv, cable, cellular and now even online video (remains to be seen).

Sprint and T-mobile pale in compare to AT&T and Verizon.
Every merger is a manipulation of markets even if you can't see it. But you pay for it in price and lack of innovation.

My guess is some company(s) wants him to eliminate FCC rules to speed and cheapen the process up of deployment or just the normal tax breaks.
BTW... the carriers have yet to deploy the 'top speeds' of LTE yet !

Damn you BlUmPH!! it's all your fault!!!!!

beerptrol 02-21-2019 10:13 AM

My first thought is he wants to eliminate fcc rules and give more tax breaks to big business so they can buy back stocks, I mean invest in 6g

bloggerz 02-21-2019 10:18 AM

I already get 5G here in the USA

datingbanking 02-21-2019 11:37 AM

Bah, In Russia we have 7g already

(yes I am waiting to be trolled)

Beats me. We don't really have a 5G Standard yet.
that was part of the delay. The industry had to agree on specs.
But they are moving ahead on the premise of a standard.

It will mean a whole bunch of new lower profile towers will need to go up.
Considering the 'RF Environmental Impact' studies that need to be preformed in a standard that was implemented 15 years ago, I'll bet that is what they want removed.
You are looking at 3x the towers in the same space to make it work.
The 'cell size' (footprint) will be much smaller per tower because there is still only so much frequency bandwidth.

But I don't know why trump went out of his way to speak of it except there is a play in motion.

This tech is bad. Everyone knows it's bad. Rather point out that it's bad, Trump will promote it. All the haters will then research it and see that it's bad, and they will call for the tech to be banned. It's a brilliant move on his part.

California city blocks deployment of cancer causing 5G infrastructure

The California city of Mill Valley is one of the first to successfully block deployment of any and all 5G infrastructure after the city council voted unanimously against the flawed technology which can cause serious health effects to humans and animals including cancer.

From TechCruch.com:

Through an urgency ordinance, which allows the city council to immediately enact regulations that affect the health and safety of the community, the restrictions and prohibitions will be put into force immediately for all future applications to site 5G telecommunications equipment in the city. Applications for commercial districts are permitted under the passed ordinance.

The ordinance was driven by community concerns over the health effects of 5G wireless antennas. According to the city, it received 145 pieces of correspondence from citizens voicing opposition to the technology, compared to just five letters in support of it — a ratio of 29 to 1. While that may not sound like much, the city’s population is roughly 14,000, indicating that about 1% of the population had voiced an opinion on the matter.

It remains to be seen if this lower power wide spectrum RF has on health impact.
There are good and bad cases to be made on both sides.
Nobody has really studied this specific case scenerio.
I do know quite a bit about it and whereas a single signal at those levels may be borderline safe, you will not just be playing with one signal.
It's 64+ channels per tower (in metro) and those towers are closer to your home and children.

I would not argue for or against but I would say it should be studied.
It's not one of those things you can go back and make right.

Cell Co's are more interested in competing with cable co's.
And they are going to start showing off some pretty cool stuff like 4k tv and 4k vr though cellular networking. It does not mean they have done their homework as usual.

5G specs are not set in stone yet so there is time to restructure it to be 'safer'.
The US does not have to follow the use as in Taiwan etc, they can make their own standard. But the manufacturers may not like that.

Heres the time line folks:

"China Tower, a company that builds infrastructure for the country’s mobile operators, has said it can cover China with 5G within three years of the government’s allocation of spectrum. That points to national coverage by 2023."

https://www.technologyreview.com/s/6...what-it-means/

You don't have the same in 4 years, China starts outpacing you in every industry.

personally I'd much rather the Chinese were spying on me, than the USA/ UK/ Australian, Murdoch run deep states.

I might retract my comments as to the reason trump was talking 5G +...

Thinking now his cell service / cell phone got slow from all those hacks into it !

He has a government provided secured phone and insists on using his own unsecured phone. Probably because Putin told him to.

if only there was some way to find the answer to a question. like a smart computer. or a bunch of computers connected together. maybe some way to go to that computer and find the answer.

maybe,... someday.

That's all talk. If they do it I'd be impressed
