customs question
Not sure if anybody knows this, but if travelling through customs back to your own home country, are you compelled to answer any and all questions asked of you regarding your work, business, etc.. or can you just say, "I don't want to answer that - it's none of your business"
I mean, is that wrong or can they do anything to you for refusing to answer simple questions about your private life and activities not related to what you are bringing into the country (assuming you are not doing anything illegal)? |
they will detain you and not let you back in.. if you feel the need to hide something just fucking lie.. don't be stupid and provoke them though.
they'll keep you in customs for hours, days, weeks, if they need to.. just to verify what you do. |
it's your right to refuse to tell them anything, but then it's there right to refuse you entry based on your lack of cooperation.

HI, sorry, I think I wasn't clear. I am asking if you are returning to your country of citizenship. I.e. you are a citizen of that country and coming home, not going to another country...

No, you have to answer every question they ask. Unless you like being strip searched, ass fingered and then referred to the RCMP who will seriously fuck up your day. You want your license plate flagged in their system for every time you cross the border and come back? |
why push it.... i just say internet webmaster...
dont want them findin my stash ;-) |
say you're either a photographer or a webmaster...better yet, say you're a website designer....
for some reason, I never have problems with customs even though I'm black and travel from drug courier countries... Good vocabulary can take you a long way in this world.... |
you NEVER fuck around or cop an attitude with customs people at a border. Learned that the hard way. These guys are all nerds, wannabe cops and military guys, if you get cute with them it can be a LONNNNNNNNNNG day and yes i got the strip search, because one friend was a smartass.

Don't fuck with customs.
Hubby was going BACK to canada after visiting me years ago and they gave him such a hard time. To the point they counted how many changes of clothes he had and said no way did he have enough clothing to have stayed in the U.S. for a week. He had 4 outfits and I had a washing machine for christ sakes lol. Guess they figured he needed suitcases full of clothing to go on a one week vacation! "Lying" or rearranging words is better than not answering their questions. Once you look as if you don't want to answer a question, they are on you like vultures. The reason they ask questions is NOT because they care what the answers are, they want to see how you react to being questioned to further decide if you act like you're hiding something. Just say you're a webmaster, web designer, etc no need to tell them you are a porn whatever. Or tell em to mind their business and like another poster said get strip searched, interoggated and red flagged forever. And everytime you try to go through customs, they'll WILL remember you lol. It shouldn't be this way and I know how you feel. Why should you have to prove anything to enter your own country! |
Tell them you're in IT, or publishing.
I used to be tagged as a porno guy when entering the UK. They would swipe my passport then look at me and start asking questions about what I had in my suitcase. Would tell them to have a look and that usually was enough. |
and ALWAYS buy at least a bottle more of liquor than you can bring in without paying a duty and tell them about it.....I guarantee that if you do, they won't want to bother with that liquor...they will waive you on.....
I've dealt with canadian AND american customs travelling from foreign countries....wear some nerdy glasses...bring some liquor....admit that you brought liquor...and they won't give you a second look..... |
someone told me to start saying 'im an avid pot consumer or im with the mafia'....

I do exactly the same and it works every time. |
the problem is they always ask me about online porn if I say internet webmaster. Then they check my car in search of kiddie porn.. Or they go through my notebook and see adult domains...is it a problem to say you are an adult webmaster if you don't really want it made "public"?
