I have to say...Vegas is now a shit hole
What used to be a great place to go and one of my favorite places on Earth has turned into a corporate ran shithole. $20 minimum blackjack? Please. $90 hotel fee? The mob did a much better job with this place. No wonder the Walmart crowd are the only ones stupid enough to live here now.

I agree. Nothing is cheap there anymore - $35 hotel room +$90 resort fee - grrrr.
Last time I was there walked down to my favourite watering hole "Founders Room" at Mandalay Bay. Cigar and scotch in hand and ow all the Mom's were shocked.... this is fucking Vegas!!! Dave |

Don't get me wrong you need $20 minimum to actually try make decent money at blackjack, but the $5 tables were always fun just to pass some time while the Mrs. was getting ready back at the room... :1orglaugh |

You can find cheaper tables downtown but they fucked with the rules so much it's bullshit. 6-5 blackjack payouts (instead of 3-2), no double downs after splitting, etc. They ruined the game. I spent a better part of a decade counting in Vegas in the 90's until I started getting banned from the tables in a lot of the casinos so it had been a long time since I went back. Now it's a joke. |
Quite a few years ago i was banned from La Mirage and Caesars Palace I won a lot of money on $1 and $5 machines so much that after each $200 of coins they had to write me a check At the end of my stay they would ask me to pay 10% tax, which i refused to do showing my UK passport and driving license ( I was still a UK resident at the time) They got extremely upset and i was asked to meet the manager of the hotel, who proceeded to tell me that my room had been compt and never to set foot in the hotel again. This was in 1990 and i have since been back a dozen times to each hotel without issue but at the time i though i was going to be buried in the desert ?
Last time i was there was 2017 at the convention center and i agree it's changed a lot. Never ending buffets i remember being $5.00 are now $45.00 or more and that service charge on rooms just makes it too expensive to ever go back. |

I got married in Mandalay Bay 18 years ago and travelled to Vegas at least 4 x per year. But all the way back to 2011 when I went there for the last time, since the slots were so tight there was no point to bother.... and the 50 dollar buffets ( wehreas they used to be free) pissed me off..
I won on slots 2 X at the Imperial Palace 10K and once at the old MGM Grand ( the one accross from the Barbary Coast). My last three visits NOT even a nibble. So fuck Vegas, I do pretty well in Cannes but only once a year at the Festival. |

Vegas is just dumb now. It used to be so cheap - cheap rooms, inexpensive buffets, free booze, great entertainment.... Now it's too expensive.

I was out there last year for the 1st time and have to say I wasn't much impressed. Sure the 1st time seeing all the lights and stuff was cool, but prices on everything was ridiculous also wtf is with all the geriatrics.
I swear to fucking god I saw old mother fuckers walking around with o2 bottles and even some with their home keepers (aka nurses) |

Hmm... after living here for 16 years, seems like I hardly pay for anything. Gotta make connections.
The smartest bet here is to do the opposite of what the tourists do and stay away from them. |

Where do you hang out then hun? x |
Mostly in Summerlin and my neighborhood Desert Shores has pretty much anything I need close by. I go to the strip once a year, less if I can avoid it.
|
It is very expensive now. The restaurants are twice as expensive as they should be.
