His stroke happened the same day the 90210 reboot was announced. It was the buzz in Hollywood that he was trying to take attention from the reboot and/or was trying to up his profile to negotiate for more money to be a part of the reboot since him and Shannen Doherty were the only two that weren't signed on to be with the original cast.

I feel really awful about his death. Maybe it’s his young age, his being on tv again, or just horrible that a stroke killed him.
