Ya, I'll rewatch it tonight on the big tv with surround.. I watched on my PC with beats cranked up.

bronco67 03-22-2019 06:59 AM

I don't want to judge too much by the trailer, but it looks like this is about the origins of Motley Crue. Kickstart my Heart wasn't popular until years after their first self-titled album.

escorpio 03-22-2019 07:00 AM

Going to watch it tonight. Looking forward to it

Yeah.. I caught that too. Garage banding with Kickstart my heart...What happened to Shout at the Devil circa '83?

Oh wait I was wrong. It wasn't self titled...it was called "Too Fast for Love" in 1981. I always thought of it as self titled because the title is small in the bottom corner.

Kickstart my heart was 8 years later on Dr Feelgood.

CurrentlySober 03-22-2019 12:45 PM

Well I finished watching it - eventually. I decided to watch it on my neighbours 76 inch telly. However he kept stopping and pausing it to go to the toilet or go and make a sandwich etc, so it was hard to follow it.

On top of that, I had trouble hearing it properly as he had his windows fully closed, but luckily he did have the subtitles turned on. So yeah, I kinda enjoyed it, but having to balance on a upturned bucket and stand peeking in his window for that amount of time, really took it out of me... :(

My feet hurt and I need a lie down now...

Actually rather than judging based off the trailer why not just watch it cause the movie covers the '60s to '97 when Vince rejoins the band.

The movie brought back a ton of memories from the '80s. Like when Tommy talks about doing a drum solo in a cage as it spins upside down.. I remembered that from old videos.

About the only person, I didn't care for is Pete from SNL. I like his comedy on SNL but he seemed too unreal for this role.

Rochard 03-22-2019 02:21 PM

I got the email about this earlier today and I added it to my list... So many movies I want to watch.

kane 03-22-2019 02:52 PM

Planning on watching it tonight. This band was legendarily wild. I'm looking forward to it.

TheSquealer 03-22-2019 03:31 PM

I just watched it. Well worth the watch if you were ever a fan, particularly in the early days.

dillfly2000 03-22-2019 03:33 PM

The trailer won me over.

for sure. I was a fan of anything metal in the '80s. I loved the way Heather left Tommy throwing the tabloid mag of an article of Tommy and Pam cause I remember seeing that same tabloid back then and thought he was crazy to pick Pam over Heather.

The whole thing seemed spot on from what I remember.

2MuchMark 03-22-2019 03:45 PM

Wow that looks great but the trailer is giving too much away. I stopped half-way through. Will watch it this weekend.

It seemed like their intent was to "tell it exactly like it was". They've all been pretty open about their lives over the years and their demons. I liked that they weren't afraid to really dig into all of that. I thought it was very good. They were out of control dipshits that were lucky to survive the night before, for a very long time. They're all lucky to be alive.

and... if you don't get a little choked up with Vince Neil's daughter asking why she has to stay in the hospital (that whole scene), then you have no soul. She did an incredible job.

Yup, I watched a lot of youtubes where Nikki said the same thing that the reason it took so long to do this movie after the 2003 book was so many scripts weren't what they wanted. It took Netflix to come along and step up.

Really wished I could've seen this at the movies though so I could've jammed the soundtrack all the way home haha.

Yup the hospital scenes were really sad.

Profits of Doom 03-22-2019 06:32 PM

I really enjoyed the book, so I'm definitely gonna watch this sometime this weekend. By the way, am I the only one that feels like every time I took a piss at a Venetian urinal during AVN/Internext between 2000-2004 it was next to either Vince Neil or Alfonso Ribeiro?

SilentKnight 03-22-2019 10:32 PM

"Hi, I'm Heather."

"Oh, yeah. I see you on TV. Loved you in the Fall Guy."

"No...that's the other Heather. I'm Heather Locklear."

Ya, I'd like to read the book but I never have time to read anymore. I own 3 e-books by Harlan Coben that I haven't read yet. I use to read his books in the 1st two days I bought them.

I heard a lot of stuff in the book didn't make the cut so would be an interesting read.

escorpio 03-23-2019 03:53 AM

Loved it! Way better than that piece of shit Bohemian Rhapsody.

Nice. I love Motley Crue. Started listening to them way back in 1984.

Educate Me: What was the reason they spelt 'Crew' as 'Crue' ? Just to be different, or is there some double meaning I'm not aware of?

They just wanted it to be cool and different.

I watched it and enjoyed it. It's not the best movie you will see, but it does a good job of showing how quickly they went from being unknown to being superstars and the chaos that surrounded them.
