Has any one called you genius cause you're good with computers?

I used to fix PC's in my spare time.

Many times with a customer, friend or family member I'd say something like "I just have to replace the ram and format the hard drive etc".

A good number of people would respond with something like "Whoa... I'm not a genius like you that stuff is alien to me."

I would smile and pretend it was true. Little did they know :1orglaugh

I used to work at the cable company while I was in college and I was fixing computers at the cable company and explaining how the internet was going to change everything and how you can pay bills online etc. etc.

I quit school because I taught myself HTML and CGI and they weren't teaching it in schools yet, and focused on my first site, the first nationwide apartment search database. I got a bunch of appetizers from the nationwide apartment association and then sold it to competitors and made a great bundle of cash.

Things have changed a lot but one thing that hasn't changed is people are completely ignorant of their devices and computers and the doors they are opening to hackers and the world.

That's pretty Impressive actually.

I live outside of a retirement community. Every last one of them bought their houses in the Silicon Valley before it was the Silicon Valley, bought a "normally priced house" and then sold it for millions... And moved here to a brand new retirement community. So I do a lot of technical support for these older people. It pays rather well.

Yes many time but not just due IT skills but generally as welll. But it means nothing.

Genius is a bad word in my vocabulary . . .
