The Impossible Burger: 0% Beef.

Burger King is testing out an Impossible Whopper. This is why

Quote:

The burger chain announced on Monday that it is testing out Impossible Whoppers, made with plant-based patties from Impossible Foods, in 59 locations in and around St. Louis. If all goes well, Burger King will roll out the Impossible Whopper nationally.

Going meatless provides health benefits. The Impossible Whopper has slightly fewer calories than the original, beef-based Whopper, and is very low in cholesterol and has zero trans fats.

//

The Impossible Whopper is supposed to taste just like Burger King's regular Whopper. Unlike veggie burgers, Impossible burger patties are designed to mimic the look and texture of meat when cooked. The plant protein startup recently revealed a new recipe, designed to look and taste even more like meat. That version is being used in Burger King's Impossible Whoppers.

//

Impossible products are served at nearly 6,000 US restaurants — including White Castle and Fatburger locations — right now, but the Burger King partnership is a "milestone" for the company, said Impossible Foods COO and CFO David Lee.

I ate soy burgers when I was young and I actually liked them.

It's just more processed junk, doesn't matter if it's animal or vegetable. If you really wanna stay healthy stay away from processed food of any sort and eat food the way nature made it.

I love my caviar, steak, burgers, turkey, chicken, smoked salmon, shrimp, crab, lobster, eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, hotdogs, etc.

That being said, I tried some meatless morning sausage patties the other day and they were really really good. If they can make meatless imitations that tastes exactly like the real thing I'm fine with that but I'm not letting go of anything I like unless the imitation tastes exactly the same.... unless there's some world zombie disaster or something which would change everything for everyone anyway.

I love, love, love lobster, but sadly because they are extremely high in purines they trigger a gout attack !!!!

With great age come great pain!

Oh wow I Googled that after your post I had no idea. You taught me something new today thank you :thumbsup

I LOVE BBQ eel sushi and the article I read says that eel can cause gout as well very interesting. I've never had gout but it's something good to know.

You are most welcome, i used to fly to Penang every Christmas for a break from filming and sit on the beach eating huge lobsters covered in garlic butter and grilled over an open flame, washed down with a Tiger Beer. It was heaven.

“Impossible Burger” is just THAT, because it’s GMO

Quote:

What do you get when you genetically modify soybean roots in a top secret laboratory, cram it into a new “burger” and then sell that Franken-burger as “plant-based” to a bunch of health-minded consumers? You get $250 million richer from investors who like the marketing scam of the new bloody “vegetarian” impossible burger that’s lab-crafted from a company called Impossible Foods. It looks like flesh. It tastes like beef. It sizzles like carcass. It bleeds like a stuck cow. It’s GMO – genetically mutated food stuff for fake vegetarians and phony vegans who don’t know or care about the difference.

FDA casts doubt on safety of Impossible Burger’s key GMO ingredient

Sorry, Mark. You got duped yet again. GMO food is poison.

The best lobster I've ever had was at Crusoe's Retreat on Viti Levu island in Fiji caught fresh that day cooked to perfection served with spices on the side, dipped in melted garlic butter with with an ice cold Asahi beer. It was the biggest lobster I've ever seen and it was so smooth & soft it practically melted in my mouth. That's it, I'm going to have lobster for lunch today dammit! :1orglaugh

It's all to do with moderation and age. I would never wish Gout on anyone, even a Chump supporter. I feels like having your toe ( or any joint ) cut off without anesthetic ? :Oh crap

Did you read the crap they sell on that page? Buy any of it? Maybe you're the one being duped?

And no, GMO's are not poison, get over it. If you believe that, then you're been duped, yet again.

Just because someone or something is vegan in no way implies its healthy. I've a daughter-in-law that's living proof, she chows down on Soya Turkey roasts for dinner the blobs on couch eating salt and vinegar vegan chips.. washing it down with energy drinks.

As far as fresh fruit and veges go.. I've never seen her eat them.. must come from packet.

GMO food causes a wide range of health problems. Nevermind all the Roundup required to grow that crap. It's like you're on the wrong side of nearly every issue. It's fascinating but sad. Doctors recommend organic, non-gmo food.

Yes, of course, I'll try it if I get a chance! The way I approach my food is that I eat a mostly plant-based diet and usually one of my meals ends up including an animal protein, preferably fish/seafood. I believe in a more balanced approach. Hey, if you're going to make a not so good decision by eating fast (processed) food, why not make a better decision if you can.

As compared to what? regular store bought meat? Guess what, they feed cows the same shit. So you're eating GMOs, growth hormones and god knows what else anyways.

Now if you're talking about whole organic foods, then its not even a conversation worth having. You can't compare whole natural foods to meat alternatives, organic is going to win hands down everytime and nobody is going to dispute that fact. Your point would be moot.

tony286 04-04-2019 07:47 AM

I tried Vegan for a little while after reading Penn's book. I had an impossible burger,it tasted just like a fucking burger. Vegan lasted 3 months because it made me really fucking tired all the time.

The fake burger is made from GMO soybeans. Likely sprayed with toxic herbicides. We can still get free-range organic chicken and turkey, grass-fed beef, or better yet, deer meat

The short article that you linked to was written by Jeffry M. Smith in 2009, with information cherry-picked from other writers from 2006 and earlier. Smith gave up and withdrew from the discussion in 2013.

Smith has written 2 books. HE claims he is a scientist but it turns out that he's not true. Smith is also the founder of that "institute". He has no formal training in any aspect of science, let alone biotech. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jonenti.../#61e06a34117f

The complete research paper and its summaray I linked to is from 2016.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine however is full of real scientists, who do real work. You can even visit them in person at 500 Fifth Street, NW | Washington, DC 20001 or call them at 202.334.2000 or visit their site at Home | The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine | National-Academies.org | Where the Nation Turns for Independent, Expert Advice

I know its easy to dismiss information you don't believe in for whatever reason, but like I said previously - challenge your beliefs. It's good for you!

Peace.

No, its made from wheat protein, coconut oil, potato protein, and heme.

From https://www.thedailymeal.com/eat/sec...ossible-burger

According to the Impossible Foods website, the Impossible Burger is made from ingredients including wheat protein, coconut oil, potato protein, and heme. And that last one — heme — is the secret ingredient that makes the Impossible Burger taste so much like meat.

Red meat gets its color and unique texture from the same heme compound — though Impossible Foods gets its heme from entirely plant-based sources. Heme contains iron, giving meat that distinctive, iron-like taste. It's found in animal blood and muscle — which make up a good portion of the cuts used in ground beef. The heme in muscle is a part of myoglobin (which makes up the "blood" you think is coming from your juicy burger or steak) while the heme in blood exists in hemoglobin. Impossible Foods discovered that a certain plant compound contains heme, as well — leghemoglobin.

They learned to extract heme from plants and produce more of it using fermentation. While they could have extracted the heme directly from plants, using this fermentation process instead saves water and farmland. It also produces just an eighth of the greenhouse gases that would otherwise be required.

Well, maybe... we will have to wait and see on that. But real meat has its own problems too. It's expensive to produce, livestock causes lots of greenhouse gasses, and water near farms is polluted beyond belief, and of course its cruel.

I have eaten veggie burgers and I am not a fan at all. Meat is delicious. But hey, if this new burger is safe and delicious and nutritious and saves some animals and is better for the planet, then damn right I'll eat them. Its worth a try at least, isn't it? I know holding on to old things and old traditions and old ways are comforting, but if they are bad, they are bad.

Now: Today for lunch I'm going to hop in to my electric car and go buy an impossible burger and smoke week and dance on the mountain before I jerk it to Hillary.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Mark, that Forbes article points to Kevin Folta, and champions him as the "expert" on genetically engineered foods. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

That fucking douchebag is a PROVEN biotech industry shill. He got caught taking I believe $20K from Monsanto to publish results they wanted to see. He is a lying scumbag who will poison you for a few bucks.

The Misleading and Deceitful Ways of Dr. Kevin Folta

Quote:

Kevin Folta, Ph.D., professor and chairman of the Horticulture Sciences Department at University of Florida, has provided inaccurate information and engaged in misleading activities in his efforts to promote genetically engineered foods and pesticides.

His recent lawsuit against The New York Times is the latest in a long line of examples of Dr. Folta’s misleading and deceptive communications.

Dr. Folta has repeatedly claimed no association with Monsanto despite his close collaboration with Monsanto

You fell for industry propaganda, Mark. It's like the ciggarette companies claiming that smoking was actually healthy for people. They pushed the lie for decades to make huge profits.
