Why do Democrats claim to be against illegals yet all the sanctuary cities are controlled by Democrats?

I'm being serious. I think one of the huge issues plaguing our country is the amount of illegals we have in the country. It's completely shifting what our forefathers had intended our country to look like. If you're against illegal immigration, how do you vote for the (D) party?
