I'm not a "god believer" but I think there is enough evidence to say a guy named Jesus who was a so called preacher existed. He obviously wasn't born of a virgin.. Mary probably banged the blacksmith down the street and convinced Joseph that it was god who did it...
Jesus was probably a good public speaker and gathered up a cult following like any religious leader can do. Then the powers that be used this legend to write a holy book that could be used to control people using pre-existing folklore and made the jesus guy the star player because he had a cult following that could then be manipulated.
Controlling people via religion is nothing new by that time as even accent Greece has been shown to have manipulated people's believes in their god to gather money and keep people in line..
That's all region ever has been.. It's a way to control people it's why Christians are referred to as "sheep" because the power in charge want followers not other leaders to compete with.
A few hundred years later the Arabs took the bible and re-wrote it to make Moses the key player and created their own religion so they couldn't be easily over thrown by the Christians.
The Bible & Koran are nothing more than tools to keep power and control people. They took legends & folklore and created their stories..
