Muslim Woman Goes Viral For Posing & Smiling in Front of Anti-Islam Protestors

Over the weekend, a young woman named Shaymaa Ismaa'eel attended a conference in Washington D.C. held by the Islamic Circle of North America, when she saw a group of protesters holding signs against the Muslim faith and the Prophet Muhammad.

From there, a viral moment ensued when Ismaa'eel had her friend take a picture of her while she flashed a smile and peace sign, and later posted the photo on social media with a message that only emphasized kindness.

"I really wanted to combat their hatred with kindness honestly," the 24-year-old Ismaa'eel later told CNN, "I wanted them to see my face and simply walking by wasn't enough."

Ismaa'eel, who works as a therapist for children with autism in the DC area, also included a quote from Prophet Muhammad on her post, one that read: "Kindness is a mark of faith. Those who aren't kind have no faith."

Sure enough, it didn't take long for the photo to go viral as it garnered hundreds of thousands of likes on Instagram and Twitter, fueled by the message to "smile in the face of bigotry."

Yes...Generally the sign, with the back of the fingers facing you, is basically medieval "fuck you" sign. It originated in the 100 year war between England and France, where the French upon taking a Welsh bowmen prisoners cut of these two fingers ( used to pull the bow string) and released them. This, to the horror of their bowmen compatriots, since without these two fingers your career was finished.

The French defenders of various castles used gestures like these these (two fingers) to make fun and frighten the bowmen bellow the walls.

True story, back in the 90's my parents had a temp agency. We had a lot of govt contracts and tons of engineers at all the govt contractors something like 300 people working for us at that time.

I was just out of high school so wasn't involved in it, but I always found it very funny that when ever there was an election coming up, the various campaigns would always call us looking for temp workers to hold signs at the various high traffic street corners.

Now this is back in the 90's in FL and they would pay us $12-15/hr to get people to stand on the side of the road holding a sign for the candidate..

Every time I see these dumb ass Trump supporters holding "printed" signs I always wonder if it's just some broke yahoo getting paid $10/hr to hold the sign. I mean you can always tell a "real" supporter's sign vs a guy who was handed a professional printed sign by "someone organizing an event.

Looking at those signs they are obviously printed at a print shop and 2 of the guys have "parade" flagpole rests to hold them up.. (probably OSHA required for "paid" workers :2 cents:) There have also been several times people have posted up ads looking for "pro Trump protesters whenever Trump is having a rally..

It is what it is, y'all. When you have it turned around like you're giving the finger it isn't the same gesture and has a different meaning. We the ones that invented hand gestures, y'all stole our knowledge.
