Cuba starts giving out free preventive HIV pill. Go away Crucifissio! Don't start ur gay shit here
https://oncubanews.com/en/wp-content...1140x675-1.jpg
The pills, which reduce by 90% the probability of acquiring the virus, have been given as a form of trial from March 6 to 28 to people from the municipality of Cárdenas, in the western province of Matanzas. Cuba started giving out free pre-exposure prophylaxis pills (PrEP) to prevent the spread of HIV in healthy people, a program that is currently in the trial phase. The pills, which reduce by 90% the probability of acquiring the virus, have been given since last March 6 to 28 to people from the municipality of Cárdenas, in the western province of Matanzas, where 234 people with HIV live and every year about 30 new cases are registered. These persons were selected for the pilot plan in Cárdenas for having “a risky behavior and, consequently, a high possibility of contracting the disease,” explained one of the project’s leaders, Niura Pérez, quoted by the daily Granma. The treatment, applied on the Island together with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), is relatively new in the Americas, where, according to the PAHO, until 2018 only the Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Canada and the United States offered it as part of their public policies. The PrEP “comes to complement the years of efforts in the prevention of the infection in Cuba,” said Perez, who insisted that despite the success of the procedure, the constant use of condoms is recommended as a “safer method” to avoid contracting sexually transmitted diseases. “We consider it (PrEP) as a combined therapy with the essential objective of changing risk behaviors,” said the specialist. Pre-exposure prophylaxis includes the daily administration of antiretroviral drugs on a continuous basis to HIV seronegative people who have a substantial risk, above average, of contracting the virus. So far, the only medication recommended for this therapy is Truvada, a combination of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine. In 1985, four years after the disease was discovered, the first case of HIV/AIDS in a Cuban who had been for two years in Mozambique, Africa, was detected in Cuba. Since then more than 28,000 people with the virus have been diagnosed on the Island. At the beginning of the epidemic, Cuban patients were interned in facilities far from the cities where they were given treatment and were forbidden to leave, except on rare occasions, to prevent the spread of the disease. But with the application of new treatments and approaches, this practice ended. According to the latest available data, there are currently 23,283 people living with HIV in Cuba, with a mortality rate of 17%. On the island, a combination of five antiretroviral drugs manufactured in the country with other imported antiretroviral drugs, certified by the World Health Organization, are available to patients free of charge. Cuban scientists have been testing the TERAVAC-HIV vaccine since 2017, developed at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center in Havana and designed to reduce the viral load of patients with the virus and improve their quality of life. https://oncubanews.com/en/cuba/cuba-...tive-hiv-pill/ |
good old cuba giving out free medication to the gay...you have to admire the cuban freedom fighters who first beat the capitalist oppressors and then developed medicine up to par with the USA even under extreme sanctions from their oppressors and now they give out free medication...
this is the difference between cuba and the USA...in the USA you would get debt slavery in excange for a pill...americans look to fuck you over any way they can...but not cuba... seriously: cuba is everything that is right with the world and the USA is everything that is wrong...america will never ever ever hand out free medicine to its people... |
Would it be fair to say that CUBA has, in some respects, a BETTER healthcare system than the UNITED STATES or CANADA?

Giving out 28 tablets is hardly a give away.. its FREE here in Aus to ANYONE who's at risk... not just a preselected 28 its closer to 35,000 that are on it.. free.
Here's a scenario.. Wife has HIV contacted from a bad blood transfusion or what ever while on holidays in some 3rd world country. Prep is used so the Husband and wife can safely have sex with out fear of passing the virus to their partners. https://www.afao.org.au/our-work/pol...missions/prep/ The problem with Prep, especially in the gay male community is its presumed now everyone is on it and the use of condoms has reduced.. So AIDS has almost stopped but there's been a significant increase in other sexually transmitted diseases. Aren't medications like this FREE in your country? or do you live in 3rd world shit holes? It certainly should be FREE for anyone working in adult entertainment. For fucks sakes this was once an adult webmaster board. The only thing you should be shocked about is that "there are currently 23,283 people living with HIV in Cuba, with a mortality rate of 17%" yet their only giving 28 people a free trial. |

Australia is one of the gay capitals of the world, Aids has basically been wiped out here and PREP has significantly stopped HIV, however like I said other vd's have increased. the use a condom message is being lost, porn industry has a lot to answer for that as well. Friend of my wife works in the marketing of it and was here recently for dinner, gave us like an overview of the success of the campaign. My wife's like a "Queen faghag" they all come to cry on her shoulder.... sighs |

Gilead donates anti-HIV drug for 200,000 people to help Trump initiative
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/p...ump-initiative Pharmaceutical giant Gilead Sciences will donate the anti-HIV drug Truvada to the federal government so it can move toward its goal to eliminate HIV transmission in a decade. "My administration just secured a historic donation of HIV prevention drugs from Gilead to help expand access... for the uninsured and those at risk," President Trump tweeted Thursday. Great news today: My Administration just secured a historic donation of HIV prevention drugs from Gilead to help expand access to PrEP for the uninsured and those at risk. Will help us achieve our goal of ending the HIV epidemic in America! The drug, which carries a list price of $20,000 annually, is highly effective at preventing the spread of HIV and will be key to halting the current trend of 40,000 people in the U.S. getting newly infected by HIV every year. The medication is supposed to be taken by people who risk infection, including through drug use or having sex without a condom with someone who may be infected. Trump announced his HIV initiative to reduce the spread of HIV by 90% over 10 years during his State of the Union Address, and it must be passed by Congress to be authorized. The president has asked for $291 million toward the effort during the first year. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said the announcement Thursday would mean that people who otherwise wouldn't be able to access or afford the treatment would get it. "The majority of Americans who are at risk and who could protect themselves with PrEP are still not receiving the medication," he said, using the formal name for the drug category, pre-exposure prophylaxis. "This agreement will help close that gap substantially and deliver on President Trump’s promise to end the HIV epidemic in America.” Gilead is providing the CDC with up to 2.4 million bottles of Truvada every year until at least 2025, which will mean 200,000 more people will have access to the medication. The company is also working toward the approval of a similar drug called Descovy and may extend donations until 2030. The government will take on the costs of distributing the drugs. “We are proud to partner with CDC to dramatically expand access to medication that can help prevent new HIV infections,” Gregg Alton, chief patent officer of Gilead Sciences, said in a statement. “We believe today’s donation, combined with efforts to address the root causes of the epidemic, such as racism, violence against women, stigma, homophobia, and transphobia, can play an important role in ending the HIV epidemic in the United States, particularly in parts of the country with the highest burden of disease.” Carl Schmid, deputy executive director of the AIDS Institute who is co-chair of the President's Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, said that the donation would free up federal spending that would otherwise have been spent on getting the medication to the uninsured. Congress is still working on the budget, but on Wednesday, the House Appropriations Committee approved nearly $500 million in spending for HIV treatment and prevention. |

So.... Cuba can steal the pill from the United States, duplicate it at very little cost and hand out it like candy, but doesn't have the ability to keep it's citizens in milk and eggs and chicken.

Here in Aus people pay 2% extra tax, get so called "Free Healthcare" and the price of the drugs is $40 AU about $30 USD a month. In the USA its $1,415.00 per month. I had a heart attack last week eeek! Was sent to emergency, spent the night in acute care, next day had an coronary angiogram and a stent inserted in D2 heart vein, after that I was sent to the private patient recovery ward.. Everything up until that moment was 100% free, my private room for the night was $500 cos that the excess I have on my insurance for hospital stay, keeps premiums lower, still 100 % tax deductible however. I could of stayed in public all free, sick people don't have good pissing aim though so I'd rather have my own bath room with my stench instead of sharing the crowds. paid my 500 happily. |

You can get free medications in the USA by being in paid trials, Medicaid, and drug companies will donate medications when necessary. My bff has been hiv positive for thirty years. For fifteen years he took no meds. No doctors, no meds, no insurance. I paid $600/month for a year for his meds. Change happened and he he got insurance. Meds daily and he’s still healthy. For fifteen years he didn’t go out much and avoided people. He’s still careful but occasionally gets a twinge and sees the doctor. Twenty-eight years with one guy only with no condoms. He’s a bottom but already has the disease. |

My wifes bestie had exactly the same procedure done 6 months ago.. he's a gym junkie, uber fit with sculptured body.. heart attack. For those reading that are not sure, heart attack is a blocked vein to the heart, not cardiac arrest where the heart stops, my only symptom was shortness of breath and I felt like someone had hit me over the shoulders with a baseball bat.. no chest pain, went to doc, every test came back normal, ecg, doc had a listen to everything.. normal, blood pressure was elevated buy not alarming 162/87 was prescribed a lowering drug and told to come back next day to retest. Doc called me at 8pm that night saying blood test was back, Troponin levels were 22532, which is a sure sign you've had a heart attack and I was told to present myself to emergency and was sent straight to acute care for the night. Next day after testing every orifice, heart scans and all that I had an coronary angiogram via the wrist where they find the blocked vein and pop it open inserting a small tube to keep it open "a stent", next day at 12pm I was released... go back and see specialist in 6-8 weeks. The day before my attack I felt totally normal and now 2 days since release.. I feel totally normal, but need to get used to a new medicated lower blood pressure, and have some bruising on wrist where stent insertion went in made worse because I'm on blood thinners reality is I've had Mozzie bites that were worse and more painful, not sure if I'm on the thinners for life or just a temporary after operation thing, seeing GP tomorrow to ask those questions. |

I approved the proclamation which Fidel Castro made in the Sierra Maestra, when he justifiably called for justice and especially yearned to rid Cuba of corruption. “I will go even further: to some extent it is as though Batista was the incarnation of a number of sins on the part of the United States. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh invader, no shit is smellier than the USA...you are the cancer of the earth...I live for the day we develop weapons to keep you away... |

I’m not against Russia or the Soviet Union as my people are from there. Usually I think you’re right on the ball with most subjects but I have to disagree with you here. Our country gives away millions in medical dollars for people who can’t afford them. Drug abusers get meds and placebos to detox. HIV medication was not available for many as it was experimental and expensive as hell. Now that it’s relatively reasonable, and it isn’t for just s gay disease, it’s available to all. |
