Florida Governor Ron DeSantis revealed Tuesday that a second county in the state was hacked during the 2016 election.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's report on interference in the election said that "at least one" Florida county had been breached.
DeSantis, who was briefed by the FBI on Friday, said two counties "experienced intrusion into the supervisor of elections network," but added that there was no manipulation of the data, and that the intrusion "had no effect" on Florida vote totals. He did not say which counties were involved.

Previous reporting and government announcements have established that the GRU, Russian military intelligence, created an email phishing campaign aimed at Florida county election employees in the summer preceding the 2016 presidential election.
But it wasn't until Mueller's report was published that the public learned the FBI had investigated a particular county for actually being hacked.

"[T]he FBI believes that this operation enabled the GRU to gain access to the network of at least one Florida county government," the report claims.

DeSantis's office told CNN the governor was briefed Friday by the FBI and signed a nondisclosure agreement that prevents him from naming the two counties. A separate FBI briefing with Florida members of Congress is slated for Thursday.

Well then... we need to secure every election. We need voter id's. We need to do everything possible to make sure any election is fair, that every vote is properly counted and legitimate and that no one who is not eligible to vote is voting.

I partially disagree with this.

I haven't voted in a polling location in over fifteen years, and I never will again. There is no need to. I live in California, and I vote by mail. It's great. They send it right to my house, I vote when I feel like it, and slip it into the mail. Super easy.

I do agree that people who vote in person should be required to show some form of ID.

However, it seems to me that Republicans are creating laws to intentionally prevent certain demographics from voting (and voting against them). One example of this was a college in Texas that was mostly African American. The school was large enough so that votes from the students would sway an election and cause Republicans to lose elections. The Republican party did everything to prevent them from voting, including moving voter registration dates so students would not be in school at the time and then giving the students incorrect voting locations. When you intentionally try to prevent someone from voting it should be a crime and should be investigated.

The Republican party is going all out to fix elections. They are trying to deny people the right to vote, and changing borders to benefit them in elections.

The intention of the Republican party requiring people to have IDs is to deny people the right to vote (and thus the right to vote against Republicans). If Republicans want to do this they need to do it right - pass a law that requires people to have an ID in 2024 and then identify everyone who has voted recently but doesn't have valid ID and give them an easy way to get valid ID.

Instead, you argue that having to prove eligibility to vote with any form of state issued ID is racist. Because, as you argue, brown people can't be asked to get an ID cause it's just too hard.... but we all know that those ineligible voters, just like those you welcome to flood across the border illegally, tend to vote Democrat,... not Republican... and that is the ultimate form of voter fraud.

They gained access to voter databases in 2 countries. They had ability to access the voters names info but also to delete voters from that database.

Dear moron, voting booths are not hackable via the internet..

What actually got hacked was a voter database.

The actual voting machines are not online and can't be hacked.

The only thing I can figure that COULD be done by getting into the voter database would be to invalidate voter's registrations so that they couldn't vote.
But that wasn't reported by anyone as having happened.

One thing is for sure...the tech companies need to get contracted ASAP to get some real security on those databases. And the hosting companies they were using need to be changed to a host that takes security seriously.
