Nevada passes bill to give EC votes to popular vote winner

It will now head to the Democratic governor's desk..

I'm amazed how many states are signing up. I didnt think this had a chance at getting enough states on board but damn states are doing it left and right.

This brings the number of EC voted signed up to 195. They need 270 to make it official.

There are many states with legislation in the works to vote for this. I'm starting to think once it gets close they will just snowball.

Everyone is tired of the rigged EC.. The entire purpose of the EC was to protect the US from someone like Trumo but instead it put him into power because the EC was corrupt..

As it should be.

The electoral college is corrupt and useless

A system that makes one man's vote worth more than another is not Democratic.

You're against affirmative action but when it happens in voting where white people benefit you are all for it. Hypocrite

Acepimp 05-22-2019 01:22 PM

These state bills go against the US Constitution and therefore are unconstitutional- waste of time.

You say this because you want L.A. and NYC to decide every election. This is exactly the reason we need the electoral college, so that the "flyover country" (the majority of US counties) is represented. Even in NY and Cali, the majority of counties vote (R). Sorry dude, you don't get to flood LA and NYC with illegals and win with voter fraud.

In 2008, John McStain won in 78% of all US counties. Obama won the election with a record-low 22% of US counties... "But it's rigged and corrupt!" LOL you guys crack me up (with how clueless you are) :thumbsup

It's not an election to see who wins the most square footage.

Do you have any evidence?

I'm almost certain that the Constitution of the United States specifically grants the states the power to allocate their electoral college votes in the manner determined by the state legislatures. (My US civics education is a bit rusty, but that is what I remember being taught).

And YES, the EC was specifically put in place to prevent the masses from being duped by a celebrity - again, as I was taught, this is the entire reason the founders put it in place. They believed that the politically educated might one day need to overrule the popular vote if the public had been conned by a con man.

It is such a shame that the country endured hundreds of years of EC bullcrap just so that it would remain in place if it were ever actually needed, and when it was needed, it turned out to be as impotent as the public.

Anyway, I believe this would pass constitutional muster....

You clearly have zero clue what you're talking about. The Constitution specifically says States are in charge of how they hand out their EC votes..

This is another case of "state rights, state rights" until the states don't do what Republicans want... then it's whaaaa whaaaa whaaaa states shouldn't get to decide..

Democrats 2016: "Trump must accept the results of the election!"

Democrats 2019: "We do not accept the results of the election- We must abolish the electoral college!"

You people are such crybaby losers, it's fascinating. And endlessly entertaining! :1orglaugh

You seem to think "land" can vote.. Land doesn't vote moron, people do... Large swathes of empty land in the middle of the country that has Trump supporters doesn't equal more support for Trump...

Empty land means nothing its why the EC has failed, because it gives privilege to empty land over people..

You are mistaken. You want NYC and L.A. to decide every election. That is un-American and not how it works.

Please explain how in a popular vote LA and NY would decide the election. There simply are not enough people in those places to decide the outcome.

Instead you think 2 or 3 swing states with no where near the population of NY or CA should determine who is president.

Sorry the EC is no longer viable. Its purpose was to stop a criminal populist from being elected.. It failed miserably..

MFCT 05-22-2019 11:50 PM

Yeah, but collusion negates any benefit from that.

Have these lawmakers been living under a rock and haven't heard that Trump colluded to win the presidency? Are they Trump supporters or something?

Do we honestly want lawmakers who are either so painfully out of touch, or Trump supporters, to be passing laws? Are we so blind as to want to be in agreement with laws coming from such lawmakers?

No, it's purpose was to prevent the largest cities from determining every election.

The EC is the most brilliant system ever devised. You're just crying because Crooked H lost.

Clueless Hillbot.

With out the EC Republicans will never again win a election. The last Republican to win the popular vote was Reagan..

The simple fact is the EC allows rich doners to control elections not the people. That's why it's a failed idea and will be ended.

Republicans will have to change their policies to be popular with the people not corporations which is why they dont want it.

You are a shill of stupidity..

Hawkeye 05-23-2019 11:28 AM

They want to disenfranchise themselves?

What a bunch of idiots.

MFCT 05-24-2019 01:14 AM

I understand the motive. I understand we don't want Trump to win another election.

But here's the bottom line that none of you are even comprehending: these people some way, some how, by some abomination of logic, by some blasphemy of reasoning, somehow think Trump
WON THE 2016 ELECTION?????????

WHAT-IN-THE-FUCK kind of brain dead people are we electing? It tears my insides apart to even admit this, but I almost feel like we deserve to lose another election.

ghjghj 05-25-2019 11:53 AM

fascinating watch

TheSquealer 05-25-2019 07:26 PM

Yeah because elections should be determined by New York City and LA. You're a genius.

The average hot dog vendor would run the country better than Donald Trump. I actually shouldn't insult hot dog vendors in that way.

Everyone always says this and I always ask for proof of how this would be and I never get an answer. Care to educate me?
