Jon Stewart destroys Congress over their lack of action for 9/11 responders

It's 8 minutes long but well worth the watch. Jon lights into Congress over how they keep failing to fun healthcare for sick 9/11 responders and how half the committee didn't even bother to show up to the hearing.

The country needs more people saying stuff like this.

It still boggles my mind how such a powerful nation has a hard time (medically) helping those that need it the most.

From an outsider's point of view: A for-profit health system seems so counter-intuitive.

Rochard 06-11-2019 02:12 PM

First responders are the most important people in the country.

Earlier today in a local Facebook group I commented about an incident this weekend. It seems someone on a hike had a medical issue, and first responders... Had to hike down to get this guy. These guys run into burning houses, rescue people from attics, rushing rivers, in the middle of the forrest.... These guys are true heroes.

He could, but so far, like his predecessors, he has not.

Because Ronald Reagan the Republican Jesus Messiah made recordings in the 60s talking about how socialized health care would be the sneak attack of the socialist to take over the country...

Republicans...
They are seriously brain damaged people...

He was trying to fight aginst Medicare for the record in this recording.. Medicare has been a major sucess case...

crockett 06-11-2019 05:40 PM

Everything you need to know about Republicans, you will know by looking at how they've treated the 9/11 1st responders and those who worked the sites to clean it up..

Republicans are absolute shit..

I thought that was the job of Congress? Was Obama not able to fix it?

You're right, the President is powerless and anything they say never happens. Of course the President can help this. Maybe an executive order could fix it. Maybe the POTUS could just pick the phone up and call a few of the leaders and "encourage" them to get this done.

And, no, Obama didn't fix it. Nor has Trump. Nor did Bush.

Blame Obama!!! It's amazing Baddog can watch that video and his only reaction is blame Obama. News flash dumb fuck.. Democrats tried several times to pass bills to protect the 1st responders and Republicans blocked every fucking one. Like always you are a piece of shit..

Republicans then went on to undo what Obama did for the 9/11 1st responders..

In 2011, Obama signed the Sept 11 first responders bill:

2011: "President Barack Obama said Sunday he was honored to sign a bill to provide aid to survivors of the Sept. 11 attacks and first responders who became ill working in the ruins at the World Trade Center." Obama signs 9/11 health bill - CNN.com

On a related note:

Sept 28 2016: "Congress on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly to override President Obama’s veto of legislation that would allow 9/11 victims’ families to sue the Saudi Arabian government over its alleged support for the terrorists who carried out the attacks." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.62a3e2690157

Has absolutely nothing to do with that. Republicans are dead set against socialized heathcare because it's been drilled into their heads that US will become a socialist dictatorship..

They have no common sense, they act on fear and greed..

They then decided it was also a convenient reason to ignore the problem.

The country is not in decline.. the country has half of its govt run by bafoons..

I saw yesterday that the bill in question (prior to Stewart's appearance) had the support of about 96% of the House Democrats but only about 40% of House Republicans.

Sad.

Unreal!

“Overriding a presidential veto is something we don’t take lightly, but it was important in this case that the families of the victims of 9/11 be allowed to pursue justice, even if that pursuit causes some diplomatic discomforts,” Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), who co-authored the bill with Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), said in a statement."

"The Senate vote was 97 to 1 and the House tally was 348 to 77."

Republicans look at everything through the lens of "how will this bill affect my ability to get more tax cuts?"

More tax cuts is all republicans think about when their not trying to control all the vaginas.

John Stewart has excellent PR people. He expressed his opinion, and he is getting lots of media.
