Never-before-seen photos from 9/11 cleanup made public
A remarkable collection of photos taken in the days and weeks following the terrorist attack in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001, has been made public for the first time.
The photos show workers and heavy machinery sifting through the rubble of the World Trade Center towers at Ground Zero. The photographer is believed to be a man who was one of many tasked with cleaning up the site. Jason Scott, an American archivist and historian, said on Twitter he was given a cache of about 2,400 photos found on rotting CDRs. He then made them public on photo-sharing site Flickr. The CDRs were reportedly found at an estate sale. Some of the photos were taken from inside buildings, elevated above the debris. Others were taken from ground level in areas being cleared. They're all from various viewpoints and offer an extensive, comprehensive look at what Ground Zero was like for the men and women who had the unenviable task of cleaning it up. The cleanup at Ground Zero left many workers sick and dying. More than 2,000 deaths have been attributed to 9/11-related diseases and illnesses. Story here 2400 pics here on Flickr |

I was always amazed at the underground photos of the WTC complex. I had been there years before the attacks, but had no idea there was an entire city under the towers.
The clean up and construction there is amazing. |
The evil and the good that men do . . .

those pics are unbelievable
what's so profound about them for me is how small the people are in the pics, they look like miniatures amid the rubble there's one pic on the first page that's full width and it looks like a scene out of Call of Duty, if it wasn't a representation of such tragedy it would be a fucking gorgeous shot the perspectives in all of them really emphasize the extent of the destruction, dude has some wicked talent thanks for posting the link |
americans drop on average 25.000 bombs/year on people who never did anything to america...so it is an average of 70 bombs/day...
70 bombs > a few planes crashed in to buildings now while you are trying to milk 9/11 for every fake 'merica tear you can, keep in mind you do 9/11 to other countries basically every day...you have been doing this for decades... just a reminder that you are the worlds biggest hypocrites and the cancer of the earth :2 cents::thumbsup oh and every time you call it "ground zero" and american gets an anal wart and dies... |

so as rotten as these systems are, what 'side' have US peeps been able to vote for to stop the dropping of bombs? they have actually had no choice but to ex themselves out of democracy by abstaining, voting for a party with no chance of winning who may not be any different even if they did win or vote for one of two parties invested in keeping the war machine grinding. it's about dollars rather than ideology or values for the ones who win no matter who wins elections. that needs to change none of those people who got killed in the attack on Sept 11 deserved to die because the US state (and private financial cos) had engendered hatred against them through their actions. same as anywhere else in the world where civilians are slaughtered Quote:
the images do visually aid the cause of those denied supports for the illnesses they have suffered dealing with the incident (people in the pics exposed to thick clouds of smoke and debris with NO respiratory protection masks) but that just proves that no gov in the US actually stands up for their people regardless of party affiliation. Kane I think posted a wicked video about that a couple weeks back not sure if you checked out the collection but it is a series of amazing pics shot by a really talented and artistic photog of a very memorable incident in US history that devastated countless lives. and it had serious consequences world wide let's face it, Americans aren't exactly known for subtlety. if it was a propaganda piece there would be more flags and a moving photo montage to O Danny Boy this is 'just' a collection of some incredibly moving historic pics |

OP is by a Canadian. Not milking anything, not a hypocrit nor cancer of the earth...nor have I referred to it as "ground zero". Too bad you look upon these photos as just another excuse for an unsolicited pissing contest. You're just a sad little pissant who looks for any excuse to spew vile hatred - I truly pity your pathetic life and skewed view of the world around you. |
Why were these pictures never released until now?
