Vietnamese model and fashion designer Ngoc Trinh could face a fine for her Cannes Film Festival outfit
For the red carpet event, the Ngoc wore a sheer black 'naked' dress
Cannes Film Festival is famously one of the sexiest red carpets in the celebrity calendar. In fact, some years it can feel like a week-long celebration of sheer panels, tactful cut outs and all-out naked dresses. As you might've already guessed, we're very here for it.

One of this year's attendees, however, is now potentially facing legal prosecution for her revealing red carpet dress. Yes, you read that right.

Vietnamese model, Ngoc Trinh, arrived at the 2019 red carpet screening of "A Hidden Life" wearing a backless look consisting of a black thong bodysuit with a halter-neck top and black swirl embellishment, paired with a sheer black skirt at the front and back:

The leotard in question also features high-cut sides and cut-out detail on the bust:

Is it just me or does this dress give you very Kendall Jenner 2017 Met Gala vibes? All pretty standard stuff for a Hollywood event but, back in Vietnam, Ngoc's outfit choice caused public backlash, with claims that it violated the country's public decency laws (despite the fact Ngoc wore the dress while in France).

"Her outfit was improper, offensive and has caused public outrage," said Nguyen Ngoc Thien, the country's Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, The Sun reports.

It's believed that the Vietnamese minister then ordered officials to formally investigate the outfit in relation to the country's laws which, if Ngoc's outfit is found in breach of, could land the model with a fine.

But Ngoc stands by her dress choice:

"I've got a lot of praise for my outfit. I don't care if people criticise it because I felt pretty in the dress, which made a good impression on the Cannes red carpet," the Mirror reports."I cannot satisfy the whole world."

Stupid countries.

If the law covers Vietnamese people offending the country while out of it, she needs to be prosecuted.
