Vibehosting Is A Ripoff

Vibehosting is a ripooff !!!

I went with them last week and the day after i started to upload my stuuf they disappeard from the net with my money !!!!!!
I paid 1 year in advance for a virtual account.
I just can't see any host being down for 2 or 3 days continuiosly.
I was ripped off !!!!!!!!!

DON'T USE VIBEHOSTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PowerCum 05-06-2003 08:39 AM

I had a dedicated server with them, and they disconnected it from the net 1 minute after the paid period expired. Normally companies allow up to 15 days to pay for the server bills, but they killed the box 1 minute after 12:00 AM (I have the logs to prove it). If it was a cheap virtual account, I could understand that, but It was the 2000GB dedicated server package, so that sucked a lot. They also deleted all the info on the box (It took 2 weeks to load all the info into the database and optimize it for production), so there was no reason to pay the next month bill and spend 2 more weeks configuring the box and loading data to the database.

This is the reason I will not use them again.

Now wait a second, the main server has NOT been down for 2 or 3 days. I am very sorry about this though, spews.org says our bandwidth provider stole the IP range we were on, ARIN gave them a new block because spews are just total tossers.

We are currently changing IPs, please hang in there, this is just a one-time thing. All dedicated servers are up though.

What you forgot to say is that we sent you multiple notices that your server is about to expire, plus the invoice was available for over a week in our billing system.

You claim you never got no emails, well if you can't bother to log in and check it out like it was explained in the welcome e-mail we can't be responsible for your loss. Sorry.

Michael (who is responsible for the billing) even contacted one of your guys via ICQ or MSN, he told him he will pay by Paypal and he never did. Now what do you expect us to think?

We use ModernBill for the billing, I'm sure everyone will agree it's one of the best scripts available, it doesn't make mistakes. Everything is fully automized.

We will get the virtual hosting server up again today, there's nothing we can do about this.

Bud, you are in the wrong market if you are going to kill a server the day after it "expires". Why in the hell would you cut your own throat to save a few bucks in case they didn't pay that day. I would never use your host and I know several others who won't, simply from the shit you've had going on and your actions that have been displayed on this board. Don't worry though, there are thousands of other newbs who don't read GFY.

FATPad 05-06-2003 09:23 AM

The more I read GFY, the more I love my host.

What actions? We are a decent host. You are probably referring to the instability we had several weeks ago. It lasted for a week and the cause of it was a dodgy server. We are now on a new box and everything is running smoothly, like it does on our other dedicated servers (Can any of our customers back me up on this one?).

And this is the way ModernBill works and we trust it. Never had any complains about it.

I'm not going to tell you what's wrong with your business as enough people have already. But FYI we were going to get a server with you a couple of days before the outages you had with a "dodgy" server and I'm glad we didn't. If my dedicated server got shut down and erased from not being paid the exact second it was scheduled to be shut off I would be pissed. I work 20 hours a day and when I'm in certain things that are important I ignore everyone. This includes email and logging in to see if my due date has come around.

p00p 05-06-2003 09:36 AM

Ahem...sorry for interrupting.

Vibehost, shouldn't you be bringing your servers back up, instead of pissing against the wind in here?

Stallion 05-06-2003 09:38 AM

Damn glad I choose not to do business with them. Even though all hosts have problems from time to time, but shutting a server off 1 minute after the due date is stupidity.

I wouldn't touch them with a 20ft pole.

I agree and we have already changed it. Hell, we are hosting tabcrawler.com on a 2000GB plan with no payment up front.

Enough people said our host is bad? Who did? We either refunded them or have hosted them for a month for free. There are enough people that are happy with what they pay for with us. I can't help it if the servers hardware is fucked, we have already replaced it.

And to the topic starter, you can get a refund after 30 days if you want, no problem. It says so on our website, I mean come on people. The admin is taking care of the server right now, there is nothing wrong with the server or our hosting.

Pillhead 05-06-2003 09:42 AM

Okay, hold up a sec, keydets just shown me this thread.

I am no way affiliated with his company, only on a personal level and we go back quite far. I can be a character witness that he wouldnt try to rip you off.

Anyway, that said, I also have a dedicated server from the same source, I also know the guy who owns that host very well. Hes a damn hard working guy, he works all hours only never seems to get any luck.

It is true the story of the ips, they were originally taken from a company of a friend which went bust, ARIN had no problem with the re-assigning of the block, however spews had major issues and as we all know spews is run by a bunch of russian tossers with no regard for hosts. Evidently they requested to see tax rececipts and company paper work for 7 years past before they would consider the block.

After seeking advice, the best option, or should I say the fastest optoin was to get a new net-block, this block will not be assigned by ARIN till later this week. Other blocks in the mean while are being issued as we speak to all of us customers.

This is the reason for keydets server disappearing, as the routing of the old block has been halted. I had exactly the same problem and can vouch that it is an unfortunate event and that atrivo the host in quesion is an upstanding ISP which is why I am willing to oversee this problem and have been a customer and friend for over a year.

You can look up the listing yourself at this address : http://spamhaus.org/SBL/sbl.lasso?query=SBL8632

Obviously the main cause is spam, but even if emil sorted the culprits out, there still lies the fact that spews claim he stole the block, how you steel blocks ill never know ;)

And on the server cancellation note, in a cut throat business when your not exactly the man at the top who can afford to pay for servers that are not being paid for by your customers, termination is the only option, being in his shoes I would do exactly the same hting, its a doggy-dog world and hosting is very cut throat! One thing I can assure you is that keydet will be trying to pass as many savings on as he can, to assure these savings im sure he requires to be paid :)

Ramster 05-06-2003 09:57 AM

I have a dedicated server at VibeHosting and haven't had any outages at all. It's been 3 months since I started there and so far so good.

FYI, I do have a server at Phatservers as well but had to try a server at VH as the prices are good.
:2 cents:

kmanrox 05-06-2003 11:21 AM

life is too short to fuck around with shady hosts

ease your worries, i did...

Dildozer 05-06-2003 11:24 AM

I think i'll ask my host to marry them

techiemedia.net, would you marry me?

jpoker 05-06-2003 12:35 PM

For what its worth, i've had a dedicated server with
vibe for almost 3 months now. In that time there have been
three outages to my server lasting about 5 minutes each.
Other than that, I've had no problems. Having said
that, I don't keep all my eggs in one basket. I have
servers with three different providers and I share
the traffic amonst those different servers. If any one
host goes down I simply send all traffic to the other
two hosts.
