Is it legal for underage people to promote adult sites?

Just wondering. This morning I was checking some videos on YT and I saw a video like "how to make $100 daily at 16/17yo". In the videos there was a pretty popular adult network.

No drama, just wondering. I have ever believed it wasn't legal until 18yo.

I am not a lawyer but I would think it would be illegal, yes.

Depends what country or state you are working from.

The highest state Age of Consent in the United States is 18. The Age of Consent is 18 in eleven states - California, New York, Florida, Oregon, Utah, Iowa, Arkansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vermont, and Delaware.

The lowest state Age of Consent in the United States is 16. This is the most common age of consent, and is adopted by Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia.

In the states not mentioned, the legal age of consent is 17.

The highest Age of Consent in the world is 21 in Bahrain. The second-highest age of consent is 20 in South Korea, while the majority of other countries have an Age of Consent between 16 and 18.

The lowest Age of Consent in the world is 11, in Nigeria. The age of consent is 12 in the Philippines and Angola, and 13 in Burkina Faso, Comoros, Niger, and Japan. Japan often stands out as the only developed country on the list of lowest ages of consent, but local prefecture statutes in most areas of the country raise the effective age to 16-18.

Any sites could be using underaged models that look twenty. Photographers here have models that look fifteen years old.

I think to do so is inviting trouble. As for the legality of this, I’d hope our resident lawyers would answer.

I was a paralegal but that’s before I was in the business of adult material. I never studied the law of the adult industry but have read a bit here and there.

Can you show an underaged person smoking in advertising? Or holding a pack of cigarettes?

“My mom and dad watch adult videos and visit websites. Both work as professionals and raised me very strictly. They love going to whatever - YouTube and exploring sexually. Join them in watching the hot fun at blah blah blah. I’m not old enough to watch yet but in three years I’ll be legal! College and porn viewing is in my future!”

I’ve mixed feelings about this. If legal then you push the envelope to show fourteen year old kids. If illegal then you push the envelope to show twenty-one year olds who look fourteen.

Each state sets the age limit and the laws. It’s a sticky wicket for sure.

I’m almost sure that one state in the USA has 14 as the age of consent but that may be for marriage without parental permission.

You all missed the point. He wanted to know if a 17 year old could be a porn webmaster.

I dont know the laws, but I started out as an affiliate as a minor. Nobody got hurt.

GrandeRevenueMark 07-09-2019 01:35 AM

Guys, thanks for the info. However I meant working as webmaster, not being a model or a customer.

The video is on the official YT channel of this program.

magneto664 07-09-2019 01:58 AM

first point: illegal
second point: why waste time for an underage person who does not have a bank account, credit card, work and own money to pay for the service? I think we're all here for money.
