Man survives being swept over Horseshoe Falls
A man survived being swept over the Horseshoe Falls early Tuesday morning – 59 years to the day seven-year-old Roger Woodward became part of Niagara Falls folklore for doing the same following a boating accident.
Niagara Parks Police said at approximately 4 a.m. they were alerted to a report of a person in crisis at the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.
Officers arrived on scene and located the individual as he climbed the retaining wall, jumped into the river and was observed being swept over the falls.
During a search of the lower Niagara River basin, the same individual was located sitting on the rocks at the water's edge below the Journey Behind the Falls observation platform.
