EEE Virus Kills Local Woman
I’m not going out of the house until the summer is over. I’m not leaving this house until the summer is over. Eastern Equine Encephalitis is in Bristol County and a woman from Fairhaven has died. I lived there for years and the mosquitoes are all over the area.
Since the 1930’s only 100 people have died from EEE yet 4 so far this year have died in Massachusetts. Every year they visit and you’d think they had a cure already.
They sprayed the areas but the spray has chemicals that are dangerous. Mosquitoes gather near water and I’m about forty feet away from a pond of water. My windows are tightly closed and my back door is closed but there are tiny shafts of light coming through. The door is brand-new but the installers didn’t do a great job of installation. I’ve notified the agency about this issue and hopefully they’ll fix it immediately.
My immune system isn’t strong so I’m scared of viruses and diseases that can kill me.
When I lived on the ocean in Fairhaven I would stay in a local hotel until the area was safe. I’d have the area sprayed but didn’t want to take a chance. The hotel was $60/night but local residents were charged $25/night with one free meal. Insurance and I fought for them to pay it all for weeks. Finally they agreed after I paid the first $100. Tiny fridge so I ate at local restaurants and specials prices for residents weren’t much for lunch. Hotel gave dinner and I went to my parents’ many times.
I remember people who moved to other towns because of the virus. Last summer I don’t remember the virus being active but some years it is minor.
Hopefully other masses resist are safe and protected.
