Proof That Rich People Deserve To Be Poor...

So my wealthy friend calls me and asks me to pop over for a drink. Fine, he has a great selection of vino.

I get there and he gets straight to the point. He knows I am a geek and he wants a new TV.

He saw a QLED TV on an ad and thought it looked amazing. The picture looked amazing, almost like 3D he raved. On the ad he was watching on HIS TV!

He is a bit of an ass. How much do I charge him?

EddyTheDog 09-02-2019 06:20 PM

BTW at this point I think I could sell him his old TV back...

Helix 09-02-2019 06:22 PM

You would charge a "friend" for your advice?

He wants me to go and buy the 'new' TV for him.

Did I mention that he is an ass?

Ferus 09-02-2019 07:16 PM

We all know that never happened...

The Truth Hurts 09-02-2019 07:29 PM

you are here publicly shitting on your “friend” to strangers....
but he’s the ass?

I was on my mobile and 'friend' seemed easier than typing "My dad's new wife's friends new husband that I met last month at a wedding - and he is an ass"...

Hi Ferus!....

EDIT - I thought the word 'ass' indicated that I was using the word 'friend' in it's loosest possible context...

He's so rich, he needs you to Google for him?

Just get the "friend" to buy a new QLED TV and have the "friend" give you his old TV for your help. What's the problem?

His TV is about the size of my apartment...

Edit: Upon reflection I need to be less fussy about my friends.....

Do this. Let him know that you're a technology expert and that this is how you make (some of) your money.

Besides what you know about business, you probably learned a lot of thing things in technology. Everything you know and every service you can provide should be billable.

This is what everyone has been telling me - Stop giving away knowledge - It's a billable commodity...

:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:2 cents:.....

Problem is the cheapest places usually have the worst support and friends that seek geek advise, usually need that support more than anything and you walk yourself into a trap. Because you become their support person.... long term.

that is so funny cause the best advice I've ever given is read ALL the reviews on the TVs or things you want to buy.

Unless he wants you to buy it and install and tweak the settings I would never charge a friend.

This whole thing sounds like a made-up story. Look at me I have rich friends that come to me for advice cause they are rich but dumb. :1orglaugh

OMG! Can we get over the whole 'friend' thing - It was just a convenient short word for someone I know!..

He has more money than sense - surly we all know someone like that!..

As I mentioned before I don't even like the guy - Fucking hell!....

CaptainHowdy 09-03-2019 04:31 AM

That is only proof that there's a reason why they're actually rich . . .

pornguy 09-03-2019 05:07 AM

150 extra for the tv.
150 for the install
150 for insurance.

12clicks 09-03-2019 05:43 AM

I love it when guys who barely have a pot to piss in explain how much smarter they are than "rich people"

The thread was meant to be a bit of a joke based on reality - It seems nobody really got it apart from Thommy...

How could the QLED being advertised look any better on HIS OLD TV - The picture he was seeing that looked so amazing was on his old TV? - He didn't need a better (new) TV, he needed better pictures.....

Sorry :Oh crap...

Sorry :Oh crap.....

The lesson is rich guy brought in someone for free to give him advice on something he clearly didn't know very much about...

Sounds smart on his part, even though it was a silly situation.
