Who Is Responsible? Adult or Child?
 

I just read the story and wondered what would happen and who’d be charged. The child has to live with the fact that they accidentally killed a cousin. The adult/parent put the baby in bed with the child when you’re taught to not do that. If they are dumb, should they be held responsible for the death?

Bronx baby dies after 5-year-old cousin rolls over her in bed

A Bronx baby sharing a bed with her 5-year-old cousin was found dead early Monday after the older child accidentally rolled over and apparently smothered her, police sources said.
Six-month-old Ziebella Thorne-Young was found unconscious at 1:15 a.m. inside an apartment at Butler Houses on Webster Avenue near East 170 Street in Claremont Village, police said.

The sleeping tot was sharing a small bed with her 5-year-old cousin when the older girl accidentally rolled over onto her as they were sleeping, according to police sources.

First responders rushed the infant to BronxCare Health System, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, but cops have not ruled the incident suspicious, and sources believe the cousin accidentally smothered her.

The young girl was staying at her aunt’s apartment when she was killed, sources said.

Her mother had previously been reported to ACS, but the details of the complaint and whether its related to the incident were unclear.

Probably the most ridiculous question I've witnessed... how the fuck you going to hold a 5 year old accountable for some shit she did in her sleep?

Anyway, this is my neighborhood. I was conceived in those projects. True story.

The parents are dumb for not thinking ahead, but I don't think they could or should be charged with murder. Isn't it bad enough they have to live with their stupid decision for the rest of their lives?

It's a parent's job to make sure their child gets out of it's most vulnerable period alive. If they fail in that regard due to making dumb, shortsighted choices then they probably shouldn't have ever had children in the first place.

I say charge the parents (actually probably just parent because we know the daddy isn't around).

Usually poor, uneducated, and very lazy people that work the system by having kids so the government can provide them with free housing and lots of gibs. And they do come in all colors, shapes and sizes.

There's nothing wrong with getting a helping hand when needed. People lose their job and shit happens. But when you have 3 (and i've shockingly seen) 4 generations of people milking the system, they are shit useless humans that need to have their bloodline culled.

As a father of 5 kids I know simply by common sense that you do not allow that for this very reason among others. The parents should have known better that this is a dangerous situation at any time.

not sure if that is even relevant. I have the best mom in the world (yeah I'm calling it) and I slept over at my aunts homes all the time. with one aunt I shared a bed with my cousin, it was fun. the concord to fly to Paris was down so...
