2257 Question

I understand having the Model sign a new model contract every time we shoot on a different day. Yet, Is it required to have a 2257 signed each time she shoots on a different day?

Thanks

When I was last shooting, I didn't actually NEED a 2257 cause I was in the UK, however I simply used a combined 2257 form / Model Release which I just thought of as 'The Paperwork'

We did 'The Paperwork' before each shoot.

Yes, it stops the model claiming that days work was for fun. Also photograph the model holding her and his IDs at the start of every scene.

Bundle the 2257 with the model release. Every separate shoot gets both. A multiday shoot can use the same doc if you put each date

cool ok.

From the Q&A session with the FBI, it is not required to have a 2257 signed each time she shoots on a different day. Additionally, you may (if you wish) update the model's ID on file if you shoot in the future and want to keep the ID expiration date updated. Keep in mind the Paperwork Reduction Act.

If you're shooting for a 3rd party, you do want to have the model sign a 2257 for each shoot as part of their record. This helps to facilitate their distribution (e.g. cable TV contracts, sale and reassignment of rights, etc.).

we do 2257 record only ONCE, the first time the model shoots with us...After that, the model gets older although we all like the get younger :1orglaugh

Keeping the 2257 on a separate form from the model release and contract allows you to limit what can be looked by law enforcement in the extremely unlikely event you get a 2257 inspection. Legally, only the 2257 paperwork is subject to a warrantless search. Note that significant portions of 2257 have been found unconstitutional, the government is appealing that ruling.

What happens with adult content that was bought before the enforcement of 2257 and didn't have these ID records plus model shoots?

To make it even more complicated the content provider might not even exist anymore.

If its before the cutoff date, then its before the cutoff date and it dont matter... :2 cents:

So, one of the problems I sometimes hear from producers it that models fail to invoice or send a receipt for the shoot. As someone has already posted that you do not need a 2257 / model release in the UK, I can tell you first hand UK model are bloody lazy! therefore I incorporate both a bill of fees from the model and her release in the same form, this keeps my TAX man happy and the 2257 up to date.

If your shooting content for a site, that requires a US billing company, your gonna need some form of 2257, if you intent to sell the content your going to need some form of 2257. for a few seconds of taking an ID photos and get a model to sign a release, it is no hardship....

chasing up models after a shoot who may have change their mind, quite have a new cell number or what to charge you extra to sign... IS

Just cover yourself now, and it will save you from hitting your head against a wall later on down the line.
