I know this is a very rookie question but here it goes.

If I was to buy a domain and forward it to an affiliate link (webcams) or something similar. Then I spent the money on adult traffic let's say 50,000 hits. Would that convert sales? or is it a waste of money.

I know building a website would be 100x more better but I am just starting out and was curious about this route.

If your doing webcams maybe try a white label? There's no guarantees that anything will convert though. Depends on the quality of the traffic.

Noone successful will tell you that.. you can try to hit up sites for direct deals or go with brokers like fpc traffic, affmy but its really a hit or miss.

Please don't buy traffic, you will lose 100% and make 0 sales.

Start your site, try to understand what your surfer need... Try to explore his fantasy

Best is to run VPN and check some sites and see what other run. Tho, currently dating dominates banner space, while pop dominated by webcams.

In my experience promoting gambling sites is similar to promoting a cam site when buying traffic.

Traffic from traffic networks is not going to be as good as organic.
Take a look at the sites that have banners up for these networks and you'll see why.

However, that doesn't mean it's all bad news nor should you not make use of it. Just realize you'll be getting more experienced surfers who probably aren't as prone to open their wallets on their first visit. As others have said in this thread, it may not convert as well (or at all), but it could help your site grow. And if your content is unique enough, a sizable amount of those users may turn into frequent visitors who end up signing up down the line. It's a numbers game and a time game as well.

you would be better off spending the money on your own time, promote several cam sites, model sites with say CentroProfits, "i´m with them, welcoming you to promote me :)" & spend a small amount of money on some exclusive photos of models, make a site or blog, blog preferable using the images you purchased and linking to the cam sites & model sites you are affiliated with...

then using social media, instagram, twitter, switter, onlyfans, send your fans to your blog, page or site & slowly you´ll build up a fan base that appreciates and purchases some cam shows, subscriptions and memberships.
