Sponsors Require Phone Number
 

I’m trying to sign up with sponsors but have hit a roadblock with each one. They require a mobile phone number to verify you. My iPhone is dead and it may be months until I get it fixed. Not everyone has a cell phone but they require it.

How do you get around this problem?

you should be able to find a cheap burner phone & prepaid plan for ~$50 or so.

there are places online that offer free voicemail #'s, but I don't recall who I used for that

There are also cheap VoIP services that may or may not work, starting from $1 a month. I've used VoIP.ms, they can receive text messages but require some software configuration.

Google voice is free for personal use

Use a friends - I would PM you mine but it's an NZ number - That might cause you issues....

even if I liked using my phone (I do not), sms 2factor stuff from US sources don't work in a lot of Caribbean regions. GrooveIP is a wicked work-around

if you don't have a phone ask a friend you trust to install it (using the login details you control and can change) and when you verify he/she can give you the code. you have to make the groove account yourself to have control over it

for real though, I don't understand 'everyone constantly staring at their phones' culture but you gotta have one. what I suggested is a short term measure at best
