Are you a webmaster or a specialist or an 'idea person'?

Just out of curiosity, which of the 3 in the title do you consider yourself being?

Do you have any misgivings?

Mr Pheer 10-22-2019 11:50 PM

I dunno what I'd call me. Probably nothing nice.

EddyTheDog 10-23-2019 12:36 AM

I'm definitely an 'ideas person' - I have great ideas - That's as far as they ever get though - That's why I am sitting here wondering where my next pay check is coming from...

That's why I come here - I have a feeling there are a lot of great ideas people on GFY.....

k0nr4d 10-23-2019 01:03 AM

I would probably fall under specialist

247mg 10-23-2019 01:11 AM

i´m into fun and enjoyment, I come up with some ideas for my shoots and ideas with my site and what we can do as a business to sustain an income & see growth.

My partner Gary does everything and has always been there to correct any problems, give opportunities to us and others. An ideas guy with some specialist skills while being a webmaster, keeping my fan base growing :thumbsup

Vendzilla 10-23-2019 05:24 AM

I came up with a couple ideas at Playboy and Christie Hefner called me brilliant.
One was simple, digital picture frame with a bunny head in the corner loaded with all the Playboy centerfolds in rotation

Does the general concept of webmaster even exist anymore?

Running a website is so significantly different today than it was 10, 15 years ago when the term webmaster was used to handle just about anything related to running a website. Today, you need multiple sets of skills to run a halfway decent website that keeps up with the ever-changing landscape of technology.

Most people that I deal with on a day to day basis are specialists of some sort.

It's more like ½ webmaster ½ system administrator nowadays.

good question and i would say SOME still exist

but actually we all come out of this cradle (at least those who have been there for more than 20 years). back then we HAD TO DO everything because there was no one who was specialized. one could do this a bit better and the other could do that a bit better.

in the course of time, many have specialized in what they have always been able to do better than others. that they had an insight into many things before is even helpful because it helps them to understand the big picture.

I call my self a lateral thinker as I use my knowledge from many things that I did before to finetune my current main focus.

I am more of a webmaster... Do anything kind of guy. Not great at anything, but able to do nearly anything.

Idea person. I’m fairly inept on the internets. I hire people to do that stuff

Zuzana Designs 10-26-2019 06:02 PM

Specialist, idea person and webmaster :)

Kittens 10-26-2019 07:35 PM

D: All the above.

I R&D my ideas, I implement them, system administration in regards to deploying on kubernetes, and maintain that deployment system and cluster. I design and maintain the databases that store the data and caches, I implement the code to bring the ideas to a reality in the backend using Node.js and GraphQL. I make the user interfaces snappy and an enjoy to use with React and CSS-in-JS, and I market them with sales tactics and social media.

RBM_Paul 10-27-2019 03:10 AM

I would have no idea how to class myself, I guess I have been all three at one time or another. I started a niche website back in 2005, yeah it is still running very small audience and mainly Brits that are members, but it started as an experiment for me on the webmaster side.

Like many of the people on the thread, I have ideas, people always want to come on board because of the access to girls and the hope of fucking them, but they never have the money or want to pay.
