So, as promised, some pics of my PC I built...
Thanks to a long culmination of threads on GFY I managed to finally get to it on Sunday and Monday, and now its all done...
Not gonna give a song and a dance or expect praise, but aside frm a few minor hitches, it went pretty smoothly tbf. Wasnt quite sure what to expect, but it was all pretty painless and I took my time - The biggest hurdle was the massive cooler that almost covers the entire motherboard and the ram sticks. Took me ages to get the clips right and stuff, so its gonna be a pain in the ass to remove, should I need more RAM in the future, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it... Anway, here were all the parts.... https://i.imgur.com/7Sp956v.jpg Then this is it powered up and installing windows 10... https://i.imgur.com/ZRwWvIB.jpg Quick yet blurry photo of the insides with the subltle red glow I wanted to achive - I wanted a 'bit' of coulor, but not a fucking disco on my desk... (Note the MASSIVE cooler I was on about!) https://i.imgur.com/zi8XDMs.jpg But then its onto the important stuff ! GFY !!! https://i.imgur.com/dJYrLwW.jpg Need to tidy up the cables outside the case now of course, and that kinda thing, but overall Im happy - Last pic also shows my new mouse and clicky keyboard. You can also see the soundbar, behind the monitor, but again, that needs to be straigntened up... Aside from getting my 3TB drive to be availible (See my other thread on page 1) all is fine - Memory XMP has been activated in the bios, so Im getting full bang for my buck, and Ive also enabled 'Turbo Boost' in the bios as an easy overclock - Turns out its just a little bit better than the 'Game Mode' overclock setting... So all is good - Ive got an Xbox pass for just ONE POUND, and Im downloading 3TB of games as I type this on my mac :) Anyway, PC saga over and done with, but MANY THANKS to all you guys who have helped me out along my journey - Its all been really appriciated, and even if I didnt take every suggestion, I still really appriciate you making them :) |
STOP Vapooing = :( ... Very bad for you.

Nice build. It used to be cheaper to build your own machine and you usually ended up with a much better computer. Like everything else, it's getting a lot more expensive to build now. You still get a better unit, but the wallet hurts more. Do you not use an SSD for the C drive?

Good luck beta-testing it on consoles :1orglaugh |

Yes, I have an m.2 ssd for the boot drive - Samsung Evo Pro 500GB - Its visable in top pic - Omtop the cooler box, infront of the RAM and i7 boxes :thumbsup |
Nice job. It looks like I will have to build something similar for my 15 year old son. His game machine is about three years old and he thinks it is a dinosaur already.

Your workspace looks cleaner than I would have imagined.
|
Congrats man!
|
you either have no cats or some rare breed of well-behaved cat, that set up would not last 10 minutes at my house
for real though, it looks awesome. I love the purple light in the box, weird to me to say this about electronics but it looks beautiful hope you enjoyed putting it all together despite the odd hiccup, and that you enjoy it even more now after all your work well done, really cool =) |
Keyboard looks like an old school mechanical keyboard.... I have one of those. It's great for gaming but not so practical for daily use.

I have a 6 year old daily-use old-school keyboard for 5.50 €, the simplest one you can think of, and I am completely satisfied with it. No fancy shit, no extra buttons. And I wouldn't buy anything else. Why exactly it is not practical? People buy useless shit just to look cool. |
Nice setup, congrats on the build.
