My first suggestion for the GFY bookclub. "Reefer Maddness" by Eric Schlosser.

A very fast read from the author of Fast Food Nation. Details the utter maddness of the US government in pursuing the persecution of Marijuana users/ growers/ dealers, the market in wet back labor and the Porn Industry.

Very anecdotal in it's format he has interviews with folks from this industry including Nina Hartley and Larry Flynn. Good analysis of the persecution during the Reagan and Bush presidency's.

Well worth the time if you want a insight into the people who are gathering to shut us down.

Only in that the movie was created to re-enforce the evil killer weed image created by the government.

For a real in-depth study of consensual crimes in America, read Ain't Nobody's Business if You Do by Peter McWilliams. Ain't Nobody's Business if You Do is an amazing book with an amazing story behind it. I believe before he died, he made the book available for free online.

I will look for it. This book is more focused on the government hypocracy and dual standards.

Yes, the Peter McWilliams book does the same but not on just one issue. He presents information on hundreds of issues and specific cases. It's a fascinating book.
