Is it worth getting a solar panels for a home? SRECS

I got a 12,000 kWh system installed last month along with a new roof.

So far my monthly bill went from $200.00 down to $6.00.

Does anyone have tips on how to maximize my returns?

haha yeah, that's what scares me about putting them on my roof, plus I looked into it and they wanted me to sign like a 30 yr contract. Luckily my electric bill isn't bad here since I have a Municipal electric co. that supplies my electricity.

Fuck maximizing your returns!

Your "return" is that you have options.

Wealthy people don't buy 3 cars to maximize their returns; they do it to have more options.

Solar is not about cheaper; it's about options.

Cheaper is a moped; options is a Tesla.

Buy your own panels so that you own them outright.

That other shit where you lease them from a solar company and they become your power company is total bullshit. They can't afford that without raping you and they don't have to show you how bad they are raping you either.

This. Plus make sure you have a sufficient battery bank. Look into using marine batteries they are a third the price.

Really understand your electric rate plan. Do you get different rates for excess generation (power to the grid) as a function of the time of day, do you pay time of day rates for electricity from the grid, etc.? Given this, figure out the best economic use of the panels (run your ac from them during the day, or maximize power to the grid instead, etc.).

Dafuq, why?

Just FYI - A typical solar panel setup does not let you live off-grid and does not let you run power when power is out. How it works is you are selling the power back to the power company at 80% of it's value or something like that. You are sitll getting power from the power company, just what you are selling offsets it.

I am getting a 30% solar tax credit.

I am not sure how it works but let's just say I make $100,000.00 a year but I pay taxes weekly which comes out of my checks.

My solar system cost $50,000.

Do I get a refund for $15,000 plus my tax return?

probably due to issues, like blowing up.

My friend put it on his new house in Delaware. Cost of house included cost of panels. Lives there 6 months out of the year and pays nothing for electric. Summer months collect most energy and given to electric company and credit used in the winter months when they are there.
