nikki99 01-10-2020 10:52 AM

well everyone says it works fine

No I don't. There is no reason to use them, just buy directly from the airline, there is no price difference.

I was no show on a flight and they decided to cancel the entire thing. I contacted the airline and they told me if expedia wouldn't have cancelled the tickets I could have gone on my return flight for $100 fine.

I also purchased their $50 insurance and it does nothing at all, waste of money.

This :thumbsup :thumbsup

Expedia (and their network like hotels.com, orbitz, tripadvisor, hotwire etc) is great for hotels, a pain in the ass for flights (changes like Oracle Porn pointed out, or preventing you from checking in online especially on codeshares).

Use google flights or kayak to find your route and then book directly with the airline.

Booking directly cost more $$ for some reason...

Ive never had an issue with Expedia and have needed to make flight changes. The flight change procedure was no different than if I bought directly through the airlines.

i always use cheapoair.com

nikki99 01-10-2020 02:15 PM

I just found out expedia has somehwere $20 hidden fees and it ended up same as other websites

sonofsam 01-10-2020 04:48 PM

If you're wondering if it's a scam site or something, definitely not. I've taken 15 flights with them in 2019 and never had a problem.

sonofsam 01-10-2020 04:51 PM

Tip: if you're flexible with your flight dates you can search for a range of dates and compare prices

I have to fly business because I get flight anxiety and hate being around too many people and the price varies a LOT. The flight might be 5000 one day but 2700 the next day. Do the flexible search and save money

Don t trust expedia, too many negative reviews and personally afew hotels bookings and flights being canceled

mikeet 01-10-2020 07:44 PM

I use them for hotels periodically never had an issue.

as much as expedia and their overseas customer service sucks.

That wasn't their fault, that is airline policy, if you miss the first segment the whole trip is cancelled.

yea this is my understanding.. having that return held for a fee is entirely new to me

btw, OP, make sure you use 'approved western 3rd party sites' cause turkish ones such as onetravel etc will definitely have your card company calling to confirm transaction and 'are you sure you wanna do this', you

We had a really bad experience with Expedia while trying to book a flight to Edmonton for a wedding. They ended declining my credit card (more than enough to cover the tickets) and the tickets. I went to book through Air Canada and my card was declined.

After I called our credit card company, they told me there was a pre-authorization hold on my credit card from Expedia for the full amount. It took 4 or 5 days for them to release it.

That was my first and last experience with them.
