Has working in adult affected your relationship with your family?
When I told my parents I was getting into it, I was basically disowned. They said what I was doing was absolutely idiotic, it was sure to hurt both me and them (they thought some russian mobsters were gonna be gunning for me and my family), it was morally reprehensible (but of course they'd be happy if I was a code monkey at any evil company in the world, facebook, google, whatever). I'd never be able to get another job again if I did this. My life would be ruined.
Years later they've accepted me back into their lives, but I'll always be the black sheep. They'll always subtly attack me for what I do. Their opinions of me are forever changed. What have you experienced? |
only have a daughter, i started in the biz when she was a little kid so she is used to it... but I did lose all my friends except 1. most of the friends dumped me because i was in adult, virtue signaling or I wouldn't let them hang out during shoots. the rest dumped me when i started making 6 figures. then again very very few of the peeps here are even in porn by my estimation, being a webmaster is not in porn. being on set with 'people fucking' in in porn not selling shit on the internet :2 cents:

When I was "really" in, my family didn't care. I come from a family of hustlers, we have a "get it how you get it" attitude... Even though I was a minor when I started, my parents encouraged me. Of course I wasn't a performer though, nor a camera guy.
They helped me with a cover story from those who would care. Mostly because they didn't want anybody else picking up on the hustle and cutting into the funds. They're old school. I never told any real life friends. Once again, not because of being ashamed or anything. I just didn't want the "can you teach me" conversations and all that. |
Nope. And at one point, I was having checks directed to my parents house. My mom opened on up "on accident" and it was for a few grand earned over a month from one sponsor. From that point out, not only did they no care...they were quite impressed I could do that from home in my pajamas if I chose so. Porn paid for my Film School degree. My mom likes to mention that on occasion.

The first time I was offered a job in "adult" it was Tanker who was working for Lensmen. This was in Livermore, California; Turns out their office was a few blocks away from where I lived. My wife actually worked on the same street at their office. I told Tanker there was "no money in adult". LOL.
No, my family knows, but they don't know all of the details. Originally I told my parents I was doing "internet marketing" which was a trendy buzz word in 2000. My in-laws knew a little more but no one cared. Eventually when I went to work for Playboy it become common knowledge in my entire family, but there was so many things we were into at Playboy at the time that it was easy to hide them. |
I started in 2001 and my family thought I did online marketing (placing ads on websites). Well in 2003 they found out the worst way by an "FBI agent" calling my mom asking where his niece was. (Long story that I don't want to get into but I was never in legal trouble). Mom hated me for a year or so cause she saw porn as a dirty thing. She came around a few years later when I was making $100k per year for a few years. It wasn't the money but she saw I wasn't doing it because I was a pervert but because there was money in doing it.

Online marketing must be enough. No need to go into details.

I've actually turned a former girlfriend into a porn addict . . .

I've never really cared, TBH. I left my area in Missouri at 18 to go work in California for a pretty well known company and apparently a lot of people ran their mouths about "porn this" and "loser sinner that".
Now they're all laden with student debt making 60k/yr struggling to pay bills and I've made well into the 6 figures most of my adult life while traveling the world, sans a couple years. My wife has been 100% on board since I first told her a few dates in, and that's all that matters to me. Some of my cousins and my brothers know. Close friends know. Never really a topic of conversation, though. I stopped "bragging" about it around age 20. |

I told my parents straight up about my first job in adult as a video editor for Canada's largest video distributor. Their response was - it's an honest, legal job. Who cares?
They had no problems with it. Starting our own production company was just a natural progression and they had no qualms about that either. Did lose touch with a few friends because of it, though. I somewhat regret that. But I told myself if they want to be that judgemental and superficial...that's their problem. |
Talked to the owner of nscash's parents at internext once. I was like, I do fucking wish you were my parents.
