The Science Delusion-subsequently removed by TED from its website.

this is really interesting...my GF in the mid 80's was a 'healer' so I have some exposure to 'some' of these thoughts, but this guy is really laying out some unconventional thoughts that can be just as right as any other scientific thoughts :2 cents:

Good post.
I have interacted with a few of these "Light or Energy workers" when dealing with the critically ill in my cannabis caregiver work. There is definitely something helpful for the patients with it. :thumbsup

this guy is blowing my mind and yes my GF was an energy worker. I am sensitive to working with energy however it clouds my perceptions of everyday reality if that makes sense to you.

I've never been in a position that i could let the world go to focus on this type of life. I had to chose, so i chose ... well.... reality I guess. I had to stop smoking weed about 6 months ago because I was 'slipping away' into a shamanistic experience... like using DMT everyday or something.

I'm going to try weed again with a more informed focus, I was really knocked for a loop as they say. this time I will be prepared. I'm not sure where i will go however I will be informed this time, balanced... :thumbsup

Science is based on the ability to reliably perform an experiment with the same result.

So when you put water into a pot and put that pot onto a high flame you expect the pot to give a rapid boil.

One thing that happens when you introduce the idea of string theory and quantum mechanics is that things get fuzzy.

Often times, you cannot replicate a result that requires a small sample with quantum mechanics. Why? Because they follow fields, not solids as you know them. And fields have interesting issues over solids. You can have something create white noise, or cut through a rock, which should be solid.

Some believe this is why placebos work.

Your brain has funny noise going on with neurons. Now multiply by the fact that the structure of those neurons have noise. Now consider that the energy those neurons pose on your receptors have noise. Now realize that even if all of those had no noise, the interpreters in your brain can see them differently (color blindness not associated with physical implications).

Now consider that certain properties from the above examples can supersede other examples.

Can't wait to get a computer that does all of this. Oh wait. We have one right now. The human brain. Are you truly using yours?

Think: How much am I using my computer if I am currently reading a porn website?

Yeah.. not that much.

"Science is based on the ability to reliably perform an experiment with the same result." first there must be an assumption to test. no concept, no experiment.

one thing that stuck with me is: the mind is the future, the body is the past. we 'think' of something, an action. some actions happen, other do not. when a thought is acted on the body becomes aware, yet the action is in the past.

quantum is based on time. there can be no 'waveform' with out time. the concept 'wave' implies moving through time. when an aspect of a waveform is forced into superposition we can then experience that moment of time.

thought is assumed to be the mechanics of brain function, inside the head. is it? is thought like horsepower? a mechanical function? or is thought a 'waveform' existing across time? interesting question.
