Cameras Used in Porn

Curious what is being used and what might be the pros and cons for cameras that are being used currently to film adult content.

If you use any of the following types of cameras to shoot porn please chime in with the model you have and what experiences you had both good and bad. Please provide as much info as possible.

Action cameras

Camcorders

Mirrorless

Cinema Cameras

If you just film birds and paintball skirmishes please say so, I really want to know what adult production studios are using.

There are many options nowadays at all price ranges. I recently did a lot of research into cameras before shooting a new adult feature movie last month. I was very impressed with the results we got from the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k, especially considering such a low price point for the camera body alone. You can use many different types of photography lenses with it with the right adapters. For my recent production we used Canon L-series glass, the same model zoom lenses I shoot photos with anyway. You really need to spend some money on accessories like a rig, hard drive, battery pack and some other stuff as well to make it a really functional camera for production. But the entry point is still pretty low considering its capability for adult or mainstream production.

I've heard good things about this too. Thanks Jim

Well these days I get the cheapest smart phone and give it to an actual monkey.

On the negative side the quality is pure shit

On the positive side is punters want it far more than quality content.

Im not shooting porn (corporate video for Facebook, McDonalds, Pfizer, etc), but I shoot entirely on Blackmagic cameras, as they offer the most bang for your buck. I’ve got a couple of P4K and a P6K that I love, but the Ursa Mini Pro is my favorite. You really can’t go wrong with any of them.

Oh have you got specs on them? What do they feel like to hold?

I am not shooting porn but for my Youtube channel I use PANASONIC Lumix GH5S and I am amazed by the quality of that camera and of the quality of the video!

We use Sony F 7s.

Three different cameras, so three different sets of specs. All available on their website, in more detail than I could ever provide. They even give you their full $300 post production software suite with each camera, including their $1200 Pocket 4k.

As for how they feel to hold, it depends on the job. Naked, the pocket cameras look and feel like the average DSLR, but rigged up can weigh 15lbs...depending on the situation. They can be anything you want them to be, in that respect.

The ability to shoot a compressed "raw" format is unreal, you can even use the faster SD cards. With the Pocket 6K, we can shoot high bitrate, 6K footage on to $100 1TB Samsung external SSDs and all for under $3000. That's nothing to scoff at.
