Brits half travel time to Mars rocketing over 100,000 MPH

A company named "Pulsar Fusion" have designed a plasma powered rocket engine which could propel a ship through space at over 100 000 mph, halving the time taken already.

The company believe they will get the engines working to increase speeds to 500,000 MPH!

with these speeds possible, we could be leaving the solar system and travelling to other areas outside our own!

Yet it is impossible for streamate to do a wiretransfer to aruba, go figure

Even at those speeds it's still months to get to Mars. And then you have to slow down.

Absolutely cool news but...

I was told brexit would make England go backwards and finally the entire land mass of the United Kingdom to implode on itself. Was this untrue?

Let me know when you guys invent warp reactors...:2 cents:

hope it works out but I'm certain climate catastrophe guys will find a reason it should not be done

meh. slowing down is over rated.

I vote we just blast the crew into the planet and see what happens on impact

can take bets on who if any survives

The article talks a lot about exhaust speed, but it doesn't mention pounds of thrust that the engine develops. Laws of motion still exist in space, spacecraft have mass and you can have 1 million mile per hour exhaust speed but if you don't have enough pounds of thrust to offset the mass of the spacecraft, you won't go anywhere.

I am sure they have thought of that - It's not rocket science!..

from what i have read up on plasma propulsion engines, the thrust is usually low, so to lift off with huge payload, it would find problems, however, once in space, weight doesnīt become a factor :2 cents:

OP thought some months ago England would be allowed in the European Space Agency cause they would leave the EU. Now understand it is European and not EU Space Agency. Even Canada is in it. I bet the European countries are happy England will keep joining the program.

seems thereīs an asshat in the building...

I take it you never have made an error over anything in your life :1orglaugh

Indeed, I thought the European Space Agency may have been to do with the EU collectives...

however, lucky for those other countries, itīs not and Britain will still be part of the ESA.

Anyway, back to the thread, what do you think about this technological positive? Crazy they are considering in the very near future, these rockets will have the ability to run at 500,000 MPH, this will create a huge difference to space travel, donīt you think?
