Apple Gurus - Add more physical storage to an Ipad?
I have an Ipad 7th gen with the lightning port. Is there any way I can add more physical storage to this device? I see there is a lightning to SD card reader from Apple, but sounds like it is only meant for transferring files from a digital camera?
Ideally I'd like to pop a 512 GB SD card in a lightning adapter and have the Ipad play MP3 files off it. I have around 300 GB of them. I'm using the tablet as a stereo head unit in a side by side ATV. If I could get a USB thumb drive to work, or a USB hard drive, that would be fine as well. Always used Android where you can just pop an SD card in it. Worse case scenario I'll just go buy a 10 inch Android tablet, but I had this Ipad sitting here not getting used so though I would try to make it work. |
Man, Apple is annoying and only kind of works. So, officially their SD card adaptors only work for transferring files and sucks. But, you can move videos to a folder on the SD card named /DCIM/100VIDEO then you can watch the videos in the Photos app instead of the Videos app since everything with Apple is stupid since I left there.. :upsidedow
Might work with music but I'm not sure. If you have an adaptor already it's worth testing. Apple's only official option for more space for media is to either delete other things or to use the cloud... |

I have a Amazaon Fire Tablet 10 and I use it at the gym. Sometimes the Internet is down there, so I have videos downloaded in the event I can't watch stuff online. |
