Buying stocks?

Thinking of soon here,

I would if I had any cash - Seriously thinking of asking my parents to give me part of my inheritance or at least invest it rather than it sitting in a bank account at 0%...

We are going into a recession after this coronavirus thing is over. If wait to buy stocks for at least a few months

AzteK 03-16-2020 04:09 PM

GAMEFINEST 03-16-2020 06:48 PM

I just bought Bank of American stocks and some vanguard stocks.

If market drops even more, then ill keep buying, but i doubt it will go much lower.

You gonna wait til it hits 15K?

NALEM 03-16-2020 08:32 PM

Petrol, airlines, cruise lines and hotels can be shorted.

Personally I'm satisfied enough with the current price points so I purchased petrol stocks. I also believe that they have not hit the bottom yet. When they do, I intend to buy more.

Airlines, cruise lines and hotels have a ways to go down, before I will buy.

jscott 03-16-2020 08:33 PM

Maybe we go lower, but even so, check the history and graphs, now still looks like a great buy

EddyTheDog 03-16-2020 08:37 PM

I'm going to buy an imaginary $10K in ANZ Bank stocks on the Sydney exchange - I think it will pick up...

What is your imaginary $10K going on? - I will keep the thread bumped and we can see who does best.....

lezinterracial 03-16-2020 11:46 PM

Not seeing the deals I want. Conagra price is still high, Makes sense because they own canned food brands and people are stocking up.

MSFT is still too high for me. I would buy more oil and energy stocks, But I am a little too heavy in that category as is.

Looking at fast food stocks now. I don't believe people will stop eating out.

But difficult to price any stock due to the ten year bull run.

Fast food? Consider ARCO. They are the largest McDonald's franchise, and basically have all of LATAM. Usually in the 8s, are now in the 4s.

mikeylikesit 03-17-2020 02:36 AM

futures are bottoming out early in premarket.... if wall street does not find some $upport levels today look out below... every time in history the VIX spikes like yesterday the next session has been an up day...

But no one will care by then. The death rate is too low to be a real concern to most people.

carolwebb 03-17-2020 03:27 PM

I would like some TSLA, But still too expensive for me.

It is low because of drastic measures...it would be much higher if everything was not shut down...

World wide deaths jumped 10% today alone.

Idigmygirls 03-18-2020 04:27 PM

Ever hear the phrase, "Don't try to catch a falling knife?"

Stocks are way way too expensive still. This pandemic has a long way to go yet, and America is still not locked down. Wait until everyone has been locked at home for 3 weeks with no end in sight, and then maybe there will be capitulation (after the bank runs and bank failures, after the Derivatives market wipes out several major companies that are too leveraged to survive...). After all that, when markets start to have green days and are 70% or more off their highs - that's when to start thinking about getting into stocks....

I having been banking of VXX calls.

VXX is the inverse of SPY put with high volatility especially now.

Short Ford PUTS $4.00 4/24

Ford will be going out of business soon. They just took out a massive loan to pay all the top execs before bankruptcy

The VXX usually sees explosive moves when the S&P 500 declines.

I do not know anything about ford, I did not even google this but it sounds EXACTLY right...I would be willing to bet money you are right...

NALEM 03-20-2020 02:19 PM

I keep a XLS on select stocks, Ford is on it
Looking back to late January, mid February 2009 they bottomed out between 1.50-2.00 USD. A year later they were trading at 10.50-11.50 USD. Two years later they were at 15.00-18.50.

Fast forward to recent times, pre Corona Virus, they were at 8.50-9.50 range. Gut feeling is that they will see the current price of 4.25-4.50 drop below 2.75. I placed a buy order at 3, believing that the US government will pump billions into this American icon of a brand.

slapass 03-20-2020 02:46 PM

Buying on Monday. Nothing fancy like one stock but the SP 500

artwilliams 03-20-2020 03:30 PM

GAMEFINEST 03-20-2020 05:49 PM

There is no blood in the streets yet…
But their coud be a dead cat bounce cause all the money they put in the economy.
And than recession could start and financial system collapse in some weeks.
There won't be any good news coming soon from companies, except maybe that the virus is stopped.

slapass 03-24-2020 05:47 AM

Just sold for a profit. Seems a bit bouncy for ease of sleep as we closed at a new low yesterday and screaming up this am. Looks like I can sell my gold for a small profit in a bit too.

Shorting puts is a bullish position. If you're looking for a bankruptcy, you should be long puts or short calls.
