Paid for a header link, got moved to very bottom right of website, what can I do?

Hey,

I paid $400 to be placed in the header of a website that advertised here on GFY, I was getting pretty good traffic but then it suddenly plummeted, when I checked the site my link had moved from the header to way below the fold at the bottom right of the website.

It's not big money but it was to me and I'm pissed about it.

I have emailed the owner twice but now they're not replying. Any advise on what to do would be appreciated (I know I'm not the only one this has happened to on the same site).

Thanks!

Lee

Chargeback window still open?

baddog 03-24-2020 09:02 AM

How long was your contract for and how long did he leave it up? If you paid by credit card you can always charge back and you can complain to PayPal if you paid via PayPal

qster123 03-24-2020 09:35 AM

Chargeback probably not an option. I paid for the link back in August 2019, contract is for a year. For a few months I was getting 1k+ hits a day, then dropped to next to nothing for a month, then back up.

I was in contact with the website owner and it was sorted out temporarily. But in the last few weeks my link has been moved like I said and the traffic has dropped to pretty much zero again.

Do I just have to bite the bullet and move on? :|

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

Lee

Yea let us know who that fucker is. Lots of shady link sellers around here.

qster123 03-24-2020 10:23 AM

This was the deal I paid for.

URL: EROTICAGE | Watch Online 60s 70s 80s Erotica, Vintage, Softcore Movies

Header Nav Link: $400/year

And this is how the traffic has been acting from the site.

the same happened with me, same site :(

Biggie Smalls Web Writing 03-24-2020 11:21 AM

Call him out!

Tumblr 03-24-2020 01:36 PM

You cant chargeback now as the window have passed on

Keep trying to reach out the website owner and sort it out as you hardly have any other option left

The Porn Nerd 03-24-2020 02:33 PM

You have to watch out for people who charge for yearly links. Smart asshats will let it go a few months until the chargeback window closes then move/pull your link. Always pay monthly. If the owner says no it's a red flag.

Have luck!

j3rkules 03-24-2020 03:55 PM

It is safer to pay monthly. Can you call him out?

in future, book the spot for a year, but make monthly payments ...

fuzebox 03-25-2020 03:16 PM

It looks like he's shuffling header links as he sells new packages :(

digitalfantasies 03-25-2020 03:21 PM

Buy a new link for a different site of yours, and chargeback after 3 months, or forget about

Looks like many of us got scammed: https://gfy.com/sell-and-buy-forum/1...1#post22634970

Maybe it's time we try to do something all together. (Hosting, PayPal...)

Hey guys, i'm going to send him an ultimatum, either add links back as we agreed, or i'll have to post all his info here, or in a separate scammer thread.

I ended paying much higher price for lifetime links (not yearly) and now all my links are REMOVED! WTF :disgust

wankawonk 03-27-2020 01:41 PM

Just sayin:

I've saved WAY more money paying for links by the year (vs by the month) than I've lost from dishonest sellers

Most guys selling links are trustworthy. this guy might suck, call him out if he does, but don't assume links need to be bought by the month.

correct, site can be sold or go offline anytime and you are fucked then. 1year=12 months and that's it.

yep, links for SEO purposes are being sold on a yearly basis... there can be some exceptions but the price for a monthly link will go way up... ex. $200/year link will cost you $40/month. sellers are too busy to run around finding people.

it definitely is a higher risk to buy perm/lifetime, must put more trust in them to keep site/links up for longer. But even if you can squeeze out 2+ yrs, sometimes they honour the life of site , if long long time , i still find perm/lifetime being better deals.

Example, Slick before offered like $300/yr deals, or $500 perm, choose perm i got like 5-6 years outta them before sites expired :thumbsup

ofc there are bad eggs, like this eroticage shit :disgust
