New project - cam, blog or pic site?

I want to start some new projects, what GFYers think - cam, blog or pic site? Which site easiest to run and better in long-term?

Ferus 05-16-2020 04:46 AM

If you are down to asking people(and bots) on GFY, you might as well just apply at MacD

Easiest to run would be tube aggregator , as it can be fully automated with only required action building backlink profile and some customization.

I'd rather run a cam site, automate it and make money (easier said than done of course)

have you ever tried setting one up though?

even if you're using a pre-made script like smartCJ or streamrotator it's not easy. The difference between a smartCJ site made by someone who knows what they're doing, and a smartCJ site made by an amateur, is huge. An expert can dominate google with smartCJ. An amateur will probably never make money.

Also, because you need a ton of traffic to make real money, and you usually have a very large database, there can be a lot of technical challenges to solve. My day-to-day life involves things like waking up to a crashed database or disk swapping causing runaway I/O or some crawler from russia is hitting me 10x/second or my grabber broke because the dump format changed or my traffic grew and my server is now at 80% capacity and I have to decide whether to try to make the script more efficient or move to a larger server (which means fully configuring a new server) or maybe even break out the database into multiple servers...

There are times you will literally find me screaming at my laptop "Oh fuck, everything is fucked, I will never recover from this problem"...of course, this is my bread and butter, so I work until I solve the issues. But it can be a very stressful, difficult job.

So I take exception, to the idea that "tube aggregator would be easiest to run" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

cam niche is ultra-competitive and very hard to differentiate yourself from competition. I would stay away unless you have large budget for buying links.

blog and pic sites are both good because you can make money selling links. Especially on a blog. For many webmasters selling links is much more profitable than the small amount of SE traffic they are able to get.

I would also recommend directory sites, for the same reason. If you can make a site webmasters want links on, you can make money.

I had once situation where semrush bot was rampaging on my site, crawling all videos at once, had to ban on firewall level in order to stop server crush.

If you don't have $200-250k to invest outside of the development costs, you are destined to fail with a cam site :2 cents:

Dont think he refer to regular cam site, but a white-label/profile scrapper what most of webmasters run.

I've ran the numbers and IMO think it could be done with $50k but yeah--it's a huge investment, and huge risk
