How Can I become my own ISP?

How hard is it to become your own ISP and host your own websites?

I know literally nothing about this but was just wondering.

Thinking about the dark web. Do you not host from your local computer and get a .onion address and that's basically it.

Can you do the same for the clearnet and just get an ip address and host websites?

You can go to wht and look up posts about hosting from home in general it’s not worth it most isp’s also don’t allow it unless your on a expensive biz plan.

I don't know about becoming an ISP. But I did run a website off my Raspberry Pi for a while. Just went to my router and port forwarded port 80 to my internal Pi ip address.

If you have a dynamic IP address, you may have to set up a static IP with something like freedns. Or else you will have to keep updating your ip with your domain register every time your lights go out.

This might piss off your isp, like other guy said. But I got no complaints. I ran it for a few months.

Being an ISP is not the same as hosting your own websites.

Yes i find it annoying how they hate if you try to do that. That is one of the reasons if you want to have static ip, you would need to pay extra 100$ per month so kind a better to rent server somewhere lol

Well, I don't just want to host my own sites. I want to browse the internet as well.

Depending on the content, hosting a .onion server from your home address is a good way to get the feds knocking on your door.
