Good cheap camera for photography?

I'm looking to get into some mainstream nature photography but I don't want to spend a lot of $ on a Camera.

I just need a camera capable of taking pictures good enough to sell online for example.
Phone cameras not good enough :Oh crap

I have a Samsung S10 - but for some unknown reason the duct tape I'm using to attach the 18-200mm Nikkor lens isn't sticking well. And the hole I drilled in the phone to attach it to a tripod voided my warranty.

I'm thinking of using Superglue to attach a new 2000mm lens to the phone.

Should work?

Any DSLR from the past 10 years can take excellent pictures. Beyond that, it comes down to what you want to do - sell 8x10s or 30x40 inch prints, etc. Check out used cameras/lenses from places like KEH, the FredMiranda B&S board, eBay, etc.

If you can get by with only 1000mm, CS found the perfect lens for your phone. Having that tripod socket on your phone will really help!

Nikon D5100. Excellent image quality and very affordable.

If outdoors in the rain go with the Pentax K-50

:2 cents:

To get started, take a simple camera with non-replaceable optics, something like Canon PowerShot or Sony Cyber-shot series.

Cool optics. I've been looking for a phone that can shoot film... does anyone here use one?

For photography as opposed to for what?

Fuij for photos. Blackmagic for video.

Both of these are where it’s at for color and image quality as well as value.

I second that. I was about to say the same. :) However, I would pass on 5D Mark I since it's been a bit outdated. Pay attention to get one with low amount of shots. Low is anything less than <50k shots. Even anything between 50k-100k would be fine. Since those cameras could go easily above 300k shots. Based on the physical body condition 50k is considered "new". :)

Choice of lenses is a different topic depending on what you are going to take a photo of. Lenses could be very expensive. You can go ahead and find your lens here: https://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/lenses/index.htm

5D is a full frame camera (35mm), so you need to base your choice of lenses on that information. If you are in a doubt, I would probably start with 50mm lense (the nifty-fifty) which is cheap enough for start but have superior quality for the price category. If you want to do macro photography, 40mm second hand lense would be useful as an affordable choice. Don't focus on the camera, since 5D is a great one

if you want to do nature photos get a smaller camera with small lenses and preferably mirrorless because of the size...fuji x-t20 for example...their kit lens is everything you will ever need...DLSR-s are bricks and cumbersome to carry around...

jamezon 06-04-2020 11:38 AM

get second hand fuji x system (without factory lens) 300-400$ , even cheaper is
fuji x-e (arround 200$) and
add vintage lenses that you get next to nothing for m42 mount
very affordable if you want to try out lenses and are a beginner
gives you flexibility of a pro

If you are going to try and sell pics to stock photo companies, find out what their minimum requirements are and buy accordingly.
